Episode 90: No, No. It's A New Metal, Not Nu Metal Podcast

Snarky titles aside, I'm not nearly enough of an elitist to bash on the commercial stuff of the early millennium. It is, after all, what I grew up with and I still have a hell of a soft spot in my heart for it. That said, I'm not playing any on this podcast because there's only so much retro-nostalgic BS I can handle, and I already deal with enough promos from yesteryear-obsessed bands who think Incantation is just too cool not to shameless copy. So again, this is a podcast for new metal, not nu metal. Now that that's cleared up, let me help harm your eardrums. Bands on this episode hail from the US, UK, France, Finland, Portugal, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Australia, Italy, Germany, Poland, and Greece. Episode 86

I'm pretty sure I'm in the minority of metalheads in that I don't like moshing. Sweaty shirtless men, pent-up testosterone, unresolved daddy issues; it's just not for me. Besides, the show is on the stage (assuming the particular band puts in the effort as far as energy and/or production), and it's rather hard to take it in while being shoved around by smelly man-children who may or may not have been hugged often enough in their early lives. But goddammit if we all don't love the same loud obnoxious music, and I think we can all drink/toke/high-five to that. This episode's bands hail from the lands of the US, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Belgium, Switzerland, UK, France, Sweden, and Canada. If you dig what you hear, remember you can help out a lot by rating, reviewing, and recommending the show; it gets more ears hearing these awesome bands. As always, Stay Heavy! Episode 85

I think 'beautifully ugly' sums up heavy metal fairly well; it's harsh, abrasiveness, often dissonant, but at the same time it can convey the same depth of thought and emotion as any 'beautifully beautiful' art. At least, that is, if you have an ear for it; for most people it's just a wall of buzz saws and puking sounds. Well, here's to the recorded art of power tools and violent regurgitation. Bands on this week hail from the US, Finland, Poland, Costa Rica, Belarus, Switzerland, Canada, Russia, Sweden, Greece, Germany, Denmark, and Bulgaria. You can find your way to more of their music (and merch) through the links in the playlist on the site, so please, show your support and pick up some goods from any of them who happen to resonate with you.
