Just a Great Conversation about Books

I love this show. Two positive things about it:
- these guys get right into it. they don’t do 15 minutes of bullshitting about their personal lives and what cons they’re attending and how they have a cold. I mean, a little of that is ok, obviously, but the tendency in podcasts to blather on about stuff not germane to the topic has gotten out of control. Thanks for the focus, Jeff & Hoi!
- it’s a great book club FIRST. These guys know how to talk about books. They consider each title based on its own merits & what the author was trying to do. They don’t always agree, and they often dislike the book, but more importantly they know how to have a smart conversation about any novel they read, remaining aware of their own biases and the context in which the book was written. So few book podcasts can do this, and very few that focus on the sci fi & fantasy genres. Thank you for creating a listenable book podcast PERIOD, let alone one about fantasy titles. That’s a huge accomplishment.

In conclusion, if this podcast doesn’t make you want to read the Appendix N, nothing will.

Listening to these knowledgeable hosts is such an enjoyable experience! Insightful, thought-provoking and just plain fun! From the point of view of an old school gamer and lover of a good pulpy yarn, this is one of the best literary review podcasts available.
