Welcome to Arch Photo Pod - The Architectural Photography Podcast! My name is Jordan Powers and I am an architectural photographer and video producer based in the southeast US. In this podcast, I will be interviewing my architectural photography friends IN PERSON all across the country. While this podcast may only last 6-8 episodes, I will be releasing a new episode every 2-3 weeks. The main reason is that I am conducting these in person during my travels and I simply only have enough time, content, and resources to do that many episodes without any kind of sponsorship. If you have ever wondered what it was like to be a fly on the wall when two architectural photographers talk shop, this is the podcast for you.
Ep08: Garett Buell - Pivoting from Music to Architectural Photography
Welcome to Arch Photo Pod, the architectural photography podcast. My name is Jordan Powers and in this episode, I talk with my friend Garett Buell. Garett is a Nashville-based luxury real estate and architectural photographer and professional musician. We sit down and discuss his music career and how that led to professional photography,
Ep07: Brian Berkowitz - Luxury Retail Photography
Welcome to Arc PhotoPod, the architectural photography podcast. My name is Jordan Powers. I'm an architectural photographer based in the Southeast United States. And in this episode, I'm sitting down with my good friend Brian Berkowitz. Back in April 2023, Brian and I hosted a commercial and residential architectural photography workshop in Brooklyn, New York. The day before, we got a chance to scout the commercial location so we had some time on our hands so we sat down for about an hour and a half and talked a little bit about his background. Now, you guys may also know Brian as one of the co-hosts of the @ShootingSpaces podcast And if you've heard of that podcast and you've heard of Brian, you've probably heard a lot of his stories. So what I try to do in this episode is talk about some things that we don't normally talk about or that you don't normally hear him talking about in those episodes. So we get kind of deep in some areas, but we cover a pretty wide spectrum in this episode. Ep06: Matthew Anderson - Pivoting, Adapting, and Seizing Opportunities
In this episode, I speak with Matthew Anderson. Matthew is a Kansas City-based architectural photographer, AP Almanac contributor, and also runs a successful YouTube channel focused on the business of architectural photography. Matthew was recently in Brooklyn attending the workshop that Brian Berkowitz and I put on. We got together a couple of nights before and hung out for a few hours and sat down in his hotel room and had this conversation. Now fair warning for all of you, this is a very giggly conversation and it's not the normal serious Arc Photo Pod podcast. We do talk about business stuff, but we're just really having a lot of fun on this and it's probably the loosest you'll ever see me. And that's one of the things I really appreciate about Matthew. I think he really has the ability to bring out the lightheartedness in any conversation that's been my experience interacting with him. I certainly appreciated sitting down and getting to know him a little bit better and talking with him in person. If you want to follow Matthew on Instagram, you can do so at https://www.instagram.com/MatthewAPhoto. And if you want to follow me on Instagram, you can do so at https://www.instagram.com/jrdnpwrs. Enjoy this conversation with Matthew Anderson.
Ep05: Molly Rose - Creating a Business to Support Your Lifestyle
In this episode, I speak with Molly Rose. Molly is an interiors photographer who recently moved from Southern California to Charleston, South Carolina and when I was recently in the area, we sat down for about an hour and a half and talked shop - which is one of the things I really appreciate about Molly - her business focus. We actually met online to discuss business on Clubhouse and it is always a productive conversation. Molly is someone who helps other photographers with their businesses through mentoring and other online resources. If you would like to follow Molly and see what she is up to you can follow her @Mollyrose.photo on Instagram which will link to all of her resources, and you can find me on Instagram @jrdnpwrs. Enjoy this episode with Molly Rose!
Ep04: Stephen Karlisch - Lighting for Interiors Photography
Stephen Karlisch is a Dallas, TX-based interior photographer known for his incredible lighting techniques - not just amongst his clients, but within the architectural and design photography community. With over 30 years of experience in photography, Stephen is a wealth of knowledge and I was fortunate enough to sit down with him in his home to talk shop for several hours and walk away with a newfound appreciation for photography and an eagerness to learn the fundamentals of lighting.
Ep03: Adam Taylor - Mindset and Best Business Practices
Adam Taylor is an Oahu, Hawaii-based architectural photographer. We just happened to be in LA at the same time so we split the cost of an airbnb and hung out for several days talking shop and about life. So, what do two photographers talk about when they've talked about everything already? Business, of course.
