    130. Is Reimagining Orphan Care Possible?

    Changing the way we care for orphaned children, getting kids back into families, and lifting up community….it all sounds great on paper, but is it actually possible? This is an important question because theory doesn’t necessarily mean it works.
    This is why we are talking with our friend, Phil Aspergren, who has been helping children’s homes from all over the world change their model of care…and it’s working!

    129. How Do I Know If an Orphanage is Dangerous?

    In most of our minds, orphanages are viewed as a protector of vulnerable children. This can be true, but often an orphanage can be a deceptive place that is using it’s position and power to serve selfish interests and even harm the children it claims to protect. This is why is so important to understand the warning signs.
    Our guest, Rebecca Nhep, is an expert in this field and has even been a part of closing down multiple nefarious orphanages. She is here to share her invaluable knowledge and wisdom and help us all understand the urgency behind reimagining the way we care for vulnerable children.

    128. How To Untangle Your Calling to Fund an Orphanage with Brandon Stiver

    128. How To Untangle Your Calling to Fund an Orphanage with Brandon Stiver

    All over the world there are people who felt clearly called by God to either fund a children's home, serve at one, or leave everything to start an orphanage. But now that we know that orphanages and children's homes are not the way we should be aiming to care for vulnerable children, how are we supposed to view that very real and clear calling?
    Thankfully our friend Brandon Stiver walked this journey. From being called and moving overseas to work at an orphanage to now being one of the biggest advocates for getting children in families, Brandon is perfectly positioned to help us unpack these important and complicated questions.

My favorite podcast

I love this podcast. I love the stories and the information shared about caring for vulnerable children. When I run out of episodes or want to change it up I have tried others but nothing beats this one.

Thank you for informing me!

I found this podcast about a year ago when my husband and I were just starting to think about getting involved with foster care. I’ve listened to nearly every episode since then and each one has given me so much knowledge, has deepened my understanding, and has grown my heart for caring for children in foster care. My husband and I are officially foster parents now and you guys have been a big part of inspiring us to do that. Thank you for the stories you share. Thank you for the hope you bring. Thank you for opening my eyes to how I can get involved.

@karidacquisto ,

This podcast led us to adopt!!!

I have been listening since the beginning and over the years my heart has been stirred for one of God’s most beloved calls for Christians - caring for orphans. Throughout recurrent miscarriages (and then 2 bio kids) my pastor husband and I have answered the call to adopt. We got to the point where we thought “why not us?”. So thankful for God’s provision & goodness and for these real stories and examples of the complexity and beauty of adoption and caring for vulnerable children. We can’t wait to bring our daughter home from India! To God be the Glory!
