In 1889, a young New York socialite published an audacious volume of love poetry. It was filled with direct attacks on the patriarchy, sacrilegious suggestions, and sexually explicit imagery. The poet was excoriated by some and lauded by others. She wrote prolifically and published widely. Briawna, the host, has a very calm and engaging voice as she explores the history of musical pieces and their origin stories. The perfect blend of story, history, and music. This is the kind of podcast you can have on in the background when you want something pleasant to listen to; or, if you really want to dig in and learn something new, Briawna offers deep insight into each of the topics she explores.
