A podcast/arsecast from www.arseblog.com about Arsenal football club

Episode 623 - The end is here

Episode 623 - The end is here

In this episode I'm joined by Tim Stillman and Tayo Popoola to talk about our elimination from the Europa League after the 0-0 draw with Villarreal last night. We chat about the game, the couple of chances we had in an overall poor performance, the lack of urgency in such a big game, Mikel Arteta's subs (again), and how, over the two legs, we didn't do nearly enough to win and go through to the final. Then the discussion is broadened out to the manager and what happens next with him, his football issues are one thing but also how much the club have put on his shoulders, the dearth of expertise at executive level, where we are being a consequence of KSE's hands-off ownership and lots more.

    Arsecast Extra Episode 413 - 30.04.2021

    Arsecast Extra Episode 413 - 30.04.2021

In this episode we dissect the 2-1 defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League semi-final. We chat about the deployment of Emile Smith Rowe as a 'False 9', conceding the goals we did, a disaster-class in midfield from Dani Ceballos and the manager's role in his sending off, Bukayo Saka winning a penalty and the ice-cold way Nicolas Pepe put it away to salvage something from a really poor night against Unai Emery's team. There's also a little gratitude for the former head coach, plus plenty of questions about Mikel Arteta, his use of subs, his over-complication at times, expectations of him, plus a bit about the takeover bid from Daniel Ek and lots more.

    Arsecast Extra Episode 412 - 25.04.2021

    Arsecast Extra Episode 412 - 25.04.2021

In this episode we look back at Friday night's 1-0 defeat to Everton at the Emirates. Another game Arsenal shouldn't have dropped points in, but somehow found a way to do it. We chat about the Bernd Leno error and the VAR decision which overturned the awarding of the penalty given for a 'foul' on Dani Ceballos. Then attention turns to the protests before the game, what sparked them, and the thorny issue of the club's ownership. We then take questions about which goalkeeper should play in the Europa League semi-final against Villarreal, Mikel Arteta's position if things don't go well in the next few weeks, Granit Xhaka at left-back, Thomas Partey's season so far, other billionaires interested in Arsenal and lots more.

    Episode 622 - Legacy Podcast

    Episode 622 - Legacy Podcast

In this episode I chat to Charles Watts of Goal about the crazy week we've all experienced with regard to the Super League announcement, and then collapse. We discuss Mikel Arteta's responses as he became the first person associated with the club to speak publicly, KSE showing their hand and making their end-game clear, and whether or not this might have an impact on the team when we still have so much to play for this season.

Then it's Akhil Vayas from the AST to discuss the Fans' Forum meeting at which Josh Kroenke was questioned about the Super League, the owner's commitment to the club, potential further attempts to make something like this happen, and lots more.
