    • Health & Fitness

What is it like to be a Physical Therapist? What is it like to be a minority in the field? How do you maintain your sanity during an intense doctoral program? There is a lot we unpack in this episode. You don't want to miss it!

Dr. Jonathan Allen is the Clinic Director for CAO-Maryland Orthopedic Specialists in Germantown, MD and is a Certified Myofacial Trigger Point Physical Therapist. Dr. Allen graduated from Loma Linda University in California in 2012 and has been practicing for 8 years. During this time of practicing he has been a staff physical therapist, a travel physical therapist, and an independent contractor encompassing patient population from Skilled Nursing to Sports Medicine. He is the Husband to Cyre` Spencer Allen and together they are blessed with a son Levi, and a daughter, Ari.

Dr. Trevor Goring is a physical therapist by trade. He graduated from Howard University in 2012 and has been practicing in the field for 7 years. He has achieved additional credentials post graduation to include certifications in strength and conditioning through the national strength and conditioning association, as well as trigger point dry needling. Dr. Goring's greatest achievement, however is marrying his life partner Dr. Victoria Goring, whom in finding her has obtained favor from the Lord. In his spare time, Dr. Goring enjoys cooking, collecting colognes, and being in nature.

Vikkie J is a native of Hampton Roads, VA where she was raised. She earned a B.S. in Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and a doctorate in Physical Therapy from the REAL HU-Howard University. After practicing for 5 years as a PT, Vikkie J decided that she wanted to invest in her passion for helping people in another way. A natural encourager, she enrolled and completed the Say Life! Coach Institute program. Having a niche for organizing, Vikkie J obtained a certificate for Professional Organizing from the International Association of Professions Career College. Vikkie J has been featured on the I'm Loving Me Project, interviewed on the DMV Daily, and has 2 features in UPJOURNEY. In her spare time she enjoys creating content for her podcast, "Talking With Vikkie J" being on the beach with her husband Trevor; hiking and kayaking at her local hometown dam, and working on content for her two devotional books. Vikkie J not only believes that you should say your goals out loud, she believes you should also write them and make it plain in order for one to live their best life while letting their light shine.
