Art Fairs By The Numbers
The rise in sales needs to be considered relative to the costs for galleries and artists to attend art fairs. Art Basel announced a new sliding-scale pricing model intended to provide some relief to smaller galleries, while not overburdening galleries with larger stands. Under the new system, two-thirds of their exhibitors would pay less than they had in 2018.
