Fall 2010-Spring 2011. Join the Society for Asian Art* as we explore the concept of tradition in Asian art and culture with scholars from across the country. The series will examine the origins of traditions as well as how traditions are renewed, appropriated, and transformed over time. *The Society for Asian Art, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was incorporated in 1958 by a group of citizens dedicated to winning Avery Brundage's magnificent art collection for San Francisco. Since that time, it has been an independent support organization for the Asian Art Museum--Chong-Moon Lee Center for Asian Art and Culture.
