Associate to Dissociation with Brainspotting (Part 1 with Dr David Grand‪)‬ Awe in Trauma

    • Mental Health

This is part 1 of a 2 part series and an episode that is a little different from previous ones.  We could not resist sharing with you some fascinating insights from David Grand, the founder and developer of the remarkable Brainspotting Therapy.  In this episode you'll experience 3 tantalising clips from a recent Brainspotting Phase 4 training that David presented in conversation with Mark Grixti and a remarkable group from the Brainspotting community.  This episode takes a profound and insightful de-construction of the experience known as 'dissociation', which is a part of the natural and incredible human experience of survival and adaptation.  Far from being a 'disorder' David offers up a new and alternative away to conceptualise dissociation in the form of 'sensory gating'.  He  guides us through an exercise that you can experience first hand to deepen your understanding of the essential nature of the human filtration system to inhibit specific information in order to prioritise other senses to ensure survival.  As David affably sets out an alternative frame for our understanding of processing with dissociative barriers in our work, a liberation can be experienced with a refreshed appreciation of the miracle of the human system.  From this place our approaches to healing are imbued with positivity and potentiality that are central to the Brainspotting Neuro-Experiential Model.
