The Backwards Man (Tenet) and our final thoughts on Christopher Nolan

We've come to the end of our auteur detour and we've learned a lot along the way. but before we get into that there is an incredibly fun talk about a truly divisive installment into Christopher Nolan's filmography. we try to figure out why his themes fall flat in Tenet where they've worked so well in other places. also...Chris loves this movie! and he talks about why the puzzle of it is a complete wonder of a engineering that you can sit and ruminate on for hours.

then we talk about where Christopher Nolan is in his career and what he's meant to cinema in these last two decades. its a great talk.

we are wrapping up the podcast but stay subscribed because we WILL be popping in to do special episodes in the near future.

thanks for taking the journey with us film friends! the real detour was the friends we made along the waaaaayyyyyyyyy....

    Our Hero, What's-His-Name (Dunkirk)

    Our Hero, What's-His-Name (Dunkirk)

Dunkirk is Christopher Nolan's unique entry into the war film genre. it's also a unique entry into the "Nolan" genre as it has zero exposition, a short running time, and an optimistic finale.
we talk about the problematic politics, the lack of females and diversity, and about what works.

The Last (Bat)Dance (The Dark Knight Rises)

The final film in Christopher Nolan's "dark knight" trilogy offers a lot of insight into where Nolan has arrived as a filmmaker.

Ian, Travis, and Chris discuss all the things that miraculously work in spite of the films flawed politics and bewildering story. on the whole, all of the hosts love it and (despite where you may land on the Robin) debate; you probably will too! give it a listen!

Fun and funny. And that’s coming from me… Ian’s ex-wife and current baby mama. So, with the knowledge of that fun-not fun-TMI🤷‍♀️?-fact, you can listen to this, from an optimistically hopeful position and feel that this may be an enjoyable thing to listen to if you like hearing funny dudes talking about movies.
