Charley Johnson is a sophomore at Northern High School in Dunkirk, Maryland. She enjoys weightlifting, writing, and sailing while aspiring to pursue an education license from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Charley wrote her book Shine Light on Mental Fights in hopes of helping struggling teenagers relate to and learn about mental illness, which is becoming more prominent in today's society.

Body shaming, eating disorders, depression, self-harm, drug abuse, anxiety, fake friendships, social media, family conflicts, heartbreaks, and many other challenges are just some of the issues that young people are facing. According to Charley Johnson, they are not alone in their struggles. She has realized that everyone has some form of problem they are grappling with, but most choose to keep it hidden. This realization led her to write a book about mental health in hopes of helping struggling teenagers relate to and learn about mental illness.
