Become the pilot you've always wanted to be. AviatorCast bridges the gap between actual flight training and flight simulation to give prospective aviators, current pilots, and even the seasoned flyer new perspectives in aviation.

Through studying Human Factors we learn to combat the worst enemy to our flying success; ourselves. How can we become better aviators by interacting with our airplanes more effectively? How can we overcome the shortcomings of our human condition to make better decisions on the flight deck?

Ryan Dembroski: SuperAero YouTube | Flying Dad | Promoting Aviation — AviatorCast 151

Ryan Dembroski: SuperAero YouTube | Flying Dad | Promoting Aviation — AviatorCast 151

I’m a sucker for up and coming YouTube channels. Ryan has one, called SuperAero. Seriously some funny, funny and entertaining flying videos. A breath of fresh air among a lot of the serious stuff out there.

Ryan is a dad of 2 young kids, has a full time job, is a part time owner of a Cessna 172, runs this great YouTube channel, and is a real force for good in aviation.

He learned to fly in a Piper J3 Cub at a very unique spot in Wisconsin called CubAir. They can do your private pilot license in that old school airplane. Stick and rudder from the very beginning!

You’ll really need to check out some of his videos on his channel, and give it a subscribe. You won’t regret it!

Rose Dorcey: Flying Grandma | Medical Emergencies | Wisconsin Aviation — AviatorCast 150

Rose Dorcey: Flying Grandma | Medical Emergencies | Wisconsin Aviation — AviatorCast 150

On today’s episode of AviatorCast we speak with Rose Dorcey and her sidekick (husband) John. John was my instructor for my CFI and I got to know the both of them very well over the few weeks we spent together.

Rose is a walking miracle, and this podcast revolves around that miracle.

Just days from her commercial checkride, Rose suffered a very dangerous and life threatening ruptured aneurysm. It was only minutes earlier that John and Rose were landing at KOSH after a training flight.

During an emergency like this, minutes matter. John acted fast, and with one miracle after the next, Rose got the care she needed. She’s done very well in her recovery, while many others are not so lucky.

While this is a podcast about what can happen, it’s also a podcast about overcoming the odds, having the right people in your life at the right time, and pursuing your dreams.

Rose is an inspiration to us all, and I hope you find her story encouraging.

    Maj. John “Rain” Waters [ F16 Deployed & Demo Pilot | USAF Instructor | 777 Pilot ] — AviatorCast 147

    Maj. John “Rain” Waters [ F16 Deployed & Demo Pilot | USAF Instructor | 777 Pilot ] — AviatorCast 147

When you think of service for your country, with a backdrop of incredible flying, you think of a fighter pilot like John “Rain” Waters. Join signed up for the Air Force, wanting to give back to his country in a big way after the events of 9/11.

We go through his journey of ROTC both in High School and in College as he worked hard in academics, athletics and more to qualify for a flying track in the Air Force.

From there, it only continued to get more difficult. He started in the T6 Texan II, went up to the T38, and some time instructing in the T6 Texan II. He then had a deployment in the MC-12, which on the civilian side is a Beachcraft KingAir 350. There he learned the F-16 Fighting Falcon (aka F16 Viper) was his airplane of choice.

He got a slot flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon (aka F16 Viper) and continued his training on that platform, including mission training, and eventually ending up deployed in Afghanistan.

There he was flying and fighting in one of the busiest and active wings, dropping more ordinance than any other F16 unit.

After deployment he continued his active duty in a very public way as the USAF F16 Demo pilot, touring various airshows around the nation and world.

Now John is flying the Boeing 777 for a cargo carrier, and is based in Atlanta, Georgia.

John conveys humility and honor in the way he conducts himself and his service. Today we are honored to get to hear from him and learn how we can take advice for all sorts of flight training, not just the military.
