Ballad of the Backyard Bugs uncommon ambience

Insect Ambience —I somehow got out of shopping for a pumpkin with the kids. This means I get a quiet Sunday to stare off toward the horizon contemplating my existence — I am fully exploring my mid-life crisis over here and that's better done alone. I love my kids, but they can be a lot — one kid wants to listen to the most obnoxious YouTubers and the other only wants to listen to the most obnoxious YouTube Kid pissants.
How did I get out of this flight of family fun? I don't care about Halloween. Even before the first freese I am furiously updating my iPod with Xmas (Mariah, Vince Guaraldi, and Bing Crosby). If Macy's ever wanted outside volunteers for putting up all their Christmas decorations in early September, I would be there.
I also promised to make chili while the family was away. I sat on the back porch and marveled at how chatty the bugs were this afternoon. It was a nice distraction to tackling the thought that even as accessible and cheap gravy is — how easy gravy is to acquire, to make... I will no longer experience gravy for an entire eternity.
