Unicorn Moms and Making Yourself Happy First with Parenting Coach Eirene Heidelberger

Unicorn Moms and Making Yourself Happy First with Parenting Coach Eirene Heidelberger

This week we begin to dip our toes into a departure from #quarantinecheckins and back to looking at what it's like to be a woman who happens to be a mom, and we feel like our chat with GIT Mom founder and parenting coach Eirene Heildelberger was the perfect segway.
If you're feeling like you need a mom-confidence kick in the booty, Eirene is your woman.
The GIT Mom system is the only system that focuses on the mom, rather than the kids, allowing moms to give their children the parenting they need so they have time to do the activities they most enjoy! GIT Mom teaches you how to parent more efficiently so that you have more “me” time.
The journey to becoming GIT Mom was not a simple one for Eirene. Her oldest son was not an easy baby. As a clueless first-time mom, Eirene was anxious and stressed and she missed her pre-baby life. After a few months of struggle, Eirene committed to doing things differently. She learned to compartmentalize his crying and her irrational need to “do it all”. She perfected a sleep schedule and carved out personal time in her weekly schedule. These small adjustments were just the seeds of the GIT Mom system, which now is being used full-time by moms around the country.
Today, Eirene assists moms with every type of parenting issue, such as sleep training, scheduling, returning back to work, and teaching kids the value of listening and respecting others. All with the ultimate goal of empowering moms to be happy, confident, guilt-free parents. Because if mama isn’t happy, then no-one is!
In addition to running GIT Mom, Eirene is happily married and has three sons. With the GIT Mom system in full effect she has plenty of family time, but still gets her work-out in, drinks her beloved wine and watches plenty of the Real Housewives.
    Here's some things we cover:
We share our own parenting insecurities and our struggles with being a threatening mom, bribing mom and yelling mom.
    Mom Guilt
Raising children that know the world doesn’t revolve around then.
How happy, confident moms raise healthy confident children
How Eirene is a coach who focuses on mom's happiness first, and believes that from there you can be a great parent
If you're feeling overwhelmed these days, or even if you just second-guess your decisions from time to time, have a listen and realize you're a unicorn, but you also are not a unicorn and that's ok. You're doing a GREAT job!

Breathing In and Tweeting Out: How Social Media Helped My Postpartum Depression with Cydni Beer

Breathing In and Tweeting Out: How Social Media Helped My Postpartum Depression with Cydni Beer

Hey, friends! It's Self Isolation week 1000 and we're feeling it. This week's episode is utterly delightful, and while we went in with the intention of Quarantine Talking, what evolved was a beautiful discussion about social media, postpartum depression, finding yourself again, living your authentic life and we're so here for it.
If you're not already familiar with humorist and mom of three, Cydni Beer, you are in for a treat (Although we're pretty sure you've seen at least half a dozen of he viral tweets coming through your feed.) What started as a simple way to dig herself out of massive postpartum depression, has turned into a full-fledged, bonafied, high-profile account, and we chat with Cydni about the nexus of her social media efforts, how it's helped her and how she sees it helping others.
If you think this episode can help a loved one who is struggling with PPD, please pass it on!

While this year’s live events have unfortunately been cancelled, the show will go on! On Saturday, May 9th, Band of Mothers Media and HeyMama.co will present a free online comedy show celebrating Mother’s Day, to give moms worldwide an hour to themselves to relax and laugh. The event is free for all to attend, but the goal is to raise money for Glennon Doyle’s foundation, Together Rising, to help financially support families in need during this crisis. The event will feature all three casts of The Pump and Dump Show, who will be performing a unique and never before seen adaptation of their nationally touring performance live via Zoom. Join us for an hour of comedy, original music, games, prizes and surprises, and take a much needed break from family isolation life!

Thriving or Sinking: An Honest Discussion with a 4th Grade Teacher About Virtual Learning

Thriving or Sinking: An Honest Discussion with a 4th Grade Teacher About Virtual Learning

Ok guys, time to address the elephant in the room. Parents across America are STRUGGLING with Remote Learning or Virtual Learning or Prison School (as Tracey calls it) and loads of kids are struggling even more. This global pandemic has upended all our lives in so many ways, but those of us with school aged children have a whole new layer of anxiety, stress and frustration when it comes to navigating remote learning with our kiddos. So, let's talk about it.
In this episode we go deep with Ms. Josie a 4th grade teacher here in Denver (you may remember her from Episode 37 - What Do Teachers Really Want From Parents?) and we hold nothing back. But neither does she. We ask her all the questions we've all had these past few weeks, and she offers quite a lot of perspective from both sides of the school desk.
If you've had any grumblings while trying to navigate virtual learning these past few weeks (and who hasn't?) please do yourself a favor: lock yourself in the closest - or better yet - go for a looong walk and take the time to listen to this very important conversation. We hope it helps.
We love you! This sucks, but we know you're doing the best you can. And to all the teachers trying to make the best of an equally crappy situation. We salute you. We really, really do.

How Are You? Checking in with a NYC Mom Socially Isolating in a 750 Square Foot Apartment #QuarantineCheckIn

How Are You? Checking in with a NYC Mom Socially Isolating in a 750 Square Foot Apartment #QuarantineCheckIn

** Hey BREEDERS! Can we ask you a quick favor? If you haven't already, could you please subscribe to this podcast and leave a review? AND, if you want to score some serious #momkarma, could you share some of your favorite Band of Mothers Podcast episodes with your friends and family? Thank you!! **
Hi friends! We're in week 4, approximately day 30ish of self-isolation and honestly we don't know if we're coming or going. Things are settling in but also we're starting to get a skootch annoyed with things. And by things we mean family. And by family we mean the loud kids and no personal space. You?
This week's #QuarantineCheckIn is with Shay's sister-in-law, Jenara - a woman we both love madly, and a mom who is in the US epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak: NYC. We ask her what life is like there (really) how it feels to lock down inside a 750 sq ft railroad apartment with her family, and what else the internet can give her to bake. (Also, she made the Dalanga coffee, and she has opinions.)
Also updates from Shay and Tracey including a report on what it's like to visit an emergency room during a global pandemic BECAUSE TRACEY'S DAUGHTER BROKE HER ARM, and other tales of winning at parenting.
Enjoy! And stay safe, #BREEDERS! We love you all so so so much!

How Are You? with Kristin Goodman #QuarantineCheckIn

Hey there! How are you? How's it going out there in isolation land? Feeling like your nerves are still frayed to their very edges, or are you beginning to settle in? We're somewhere in the middle, but it feels like there are more good days happening than bad this past week, so we'll call that a win.
For this week's #QuarantineCheckIn we chat with the great Kristin Goodman: director of The Pump and Dump Show, film director, theatre director, playwright, writer, mom and light of our lives.
We hope you're enjoying our hiatus from our normal programming to bring you these check-ins during this crazy time, and we REALLY hope you listen in to this one. Kristin is one of those people who makes you feel better the minute you're around her. (Even if it's on Zoom.) Our very frank and honest conversation about anxiety and guilt surrounding COVID-19 covers the gamut of emotion; and as we sort of expected, Kristin somehow makes us feel better by changing our perspective ever so slightly. We hope it does the same for you!
Stay safe, #BREEDERS! We love you all so so so much!

The best!

Thanks for keeping the pod cast going! It’s one of the highlights of my week right now

Saving my Sanity

My friend Cassie took me to a Pump and Dump show and I loved it and am SO glad to have found this podcast. I listen to this on my commute and it’s so refreshing! Love the raw and real mom talk. I went and got real help after they had an episode on pelvic floor! And not just because I peed from laughing at the podcast. I listen to this on my commute and it’s so refreshing! I recommend it to all my mom friends.

JennetteL ,

Love you

Happy New Year Shayna and Tracey! How do you know that you’re in love with a podcast and the hosts? When you’re all caught up and they are still on a break and you miss those voices, laughs and conversations like you miss a good friend. You ladies are an amazing inspiration to all moms who have ever had that thought, “but I’m more than a mom” (so all moms). Keep it up in 2020.
