Like literally everything in the world related to food/diet/wellness, Intuitive Eating is currently having a moment, and we were curious about what it actually means, and if it's actually as delightful as it sounds.
To explain the whole philosophy behind intuitive eating, we sat down with Meredith Alvarez, mom of three, and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC) and a Certified LEAP Therapist (CLT) as well as a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. Meredith explains why listening to your body can eventually lead you on a path of true nutrition, and why maybe Tracey should just eat the almond croissant. Like, all the time.
Sound to good to be true? We thought the same, but came out of this conversation with a really expanded understanding of our (women, moms) relationship to food and health and how maybe we're all just over-thinking it a little bit.
There is so much to digest (haha) here, that we decided to have Meredith on for two episodes so we can talk about intuitive eating from the adult perspective, and then discuss what that means for kiddos, picky eaters and family nutrition.
Unfortunately, we had some technical difficulties with this interview and the sound quality is not so great. We recommend listening to this with your headphones on so you don't miss anything, and apologies for the sound. We loved this talk so much we decided to put it out there despite it's challenges, and we hope you find it equally informative even if it's slightly irritating.

We'd be lying if we didn't admit that mom skin looks and act a lot different than the skin we had before children. Hormones, sleep deprivation, stress, diet and that ugly word 'aging' seem to magnify themselves on our faces with each passing year. So, we decided to have another skin care expert on the BOMpod to discuss what we can do to age gracefully. Trina Renae is an experienced aestetician who founded the renowned Spa Lé La in Los Angeles which features nourishing, healing skin care modalities with a special focus on moms. As in...they have FREE CHILDCARE AT THE SPA! Trina (a mom, obvi) lays it all out for us while we desperately try to understand what skin care products really do, and how we should use them.  Here's some points of discussion:
A proper nighttime routine (yes, you need one)
    Why we need antioxidants
What's a serum and what should be in it?
    The truth about eye cream
    The truth about exfoliation
The truth about getting too much botox

Moms Can Crypto Too: Explaining Cryptocurrency, Bitcoin and Blockchain

Ok BOMers, buckle up. We're gonna talk Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency and what the $%&$%&@* it all means. Because we want to be really clear here: we have no idea what it all means. But we're definitely curious. Aren't you?
We pulled in Rachael Horwitz, Silicon Valley veteran, and VP of Communications at Coinbase (and mom!) to help us understand the take-the-red-pill brain-exploding theory about how and why cryptocurrency exists, and where she believes it's going.
Rachael has one super awesome take on the whole thing: she truly believes that women - especially moms - should educate themselves in all areas of finance so we can make our own informed decisions and empower ourselves financially. We can get behind that for sure!
So put on your smart girl hat and join us for an intro on crypto and maybe this will lead a few of us down an exciting new path. Let us know if it does!

Overcoming Insecurities About Clothes to Find Your Style as a Mom

Overcoming Insecurities About Clothes to Find Your Style as a Mom

It's no secret that unless you're like, Chrissy Teigan, your personal style does a dramatic 360 after having kids. Not only do our bodies change, but more importantly our priorities change...whether it's our time, money, energy, or just the realization that all those flowy tops that need dry cleaning can basically never be worn again around kids. But should we really just let our style go? Is it selfish? Is it realistic? Can a mom treat herself to some clothes she feels great in (and can afford) without feeling guilty or vain? It's complicated to say the least.
We hash through clothes, our closet, and what "personal style" really means with Personal Wardrobe Stylist and founder of Stylish Sparrow (and mom), Lisa Sharpe who magically gets to the core of both our insecurities and clarifies a lot about why maybe we don't need to live in yoga pants for the rest of our days.
This is *not* an episode about how we all need to shop at high-end New York City boutiques with a paid stylist, but more of an emotional (and a little woo) dive into the how and why of women - especially moms - wearing clothes.
    Enjoy!

Hindsight in 2020 with Tracey and Shayna

Hello, Band of Mothers!! Welcome to our newly renamed podcast (formally The Pump and Dump Podcast) and welcome to 2020!!
For our first episode of the new decade, we take an hour to reflect on the past year and past decade and what it's meant to us as moms, as businesswomen, as friends and as just plain old women who seem to be getting older every year, dammit.
We talk about highs, lows, what we've learned, what we regret, books we read, and how we've changed. We also chat about new favorite things we're loving right now, and all the fun stuff happening with The Pump and Dump Show. Tracey cries of course. And somehow Sumo Oranges are involved.
Join us for a heartfelt and reflective look on a tumultuous year, as we kick off a decade of new adventures.

Cass's Mom ,

Saving my Sanity

My friend Cassie took me to a Pump and Dump show and I loved it and am SO glad to have found this podcast. I listen to this on my commute and it’s so refreshing! Love the raw and real mom talk. I went and got real help after they had an episode on pelvic floor! And not just because I peed from laughing at the podcast. I listen to this on my commute and it’s so refreshing! I recommend it to all my mom friends.

JennetteL ,

Love you

Happy New Year Shayna and Tracey! How do you know that you’re in love with a podcast and the hosts? When you’re all caught up and they are still on a break and you miss those voices, laughs and conversations like you miss a good friend. You ladies are an amazing inspiration to all moms who have ever had that thought, “but I’m more than a mom” (so all moms). Keep it up in 2020.

EmilyP227 ,

My favorite podcast

I found this podcast while breastfeeding my newborn in the middle of the night in the early days of new motherhood. It immediately had me laughing and I was hooked. Shayna and Tracey, your honesty is so refreshing, hilarious, and real. Your guests are always interesting and I now subscribe and look forward to your podcast weekly. My husband even sings the theme song—that shows you how often I listen to you girls! Keep up the great work! I hope I can catch a Pump and Dump Show in my town in the future!
