Beat Burnout, Boost Energy, and Reclaim Your Life Today | This episode is brought to you by BiOptimizers and InsideTracker.
Does it feel like your life is too busy, your days are too short, and you're feeling overworked, overstressed, and overtired? Chances are you’ve asked your doctor for help, only to be told that it’s because of your age, or your workload, or, worse, that it’s just “normal.” If so, you’re not alone.
Women in particular are suffering from an epidemic of fatigue and burnout. So many women feel alone in their inability to manage all of their personal and professional demands. Many assume their fatigue is just a normal and inevitable part of life, but it’s not normal at all.
In today’s mini-episode, Dhru speaks with Dr. Zandra Palma and Dr. Amy Shah about HPA axis dysfunction, which is commonly referred to as adrenal fatigue. We talk about the causes and symptoms, what happens when our stress response system is always “on ,'' and the first steps to take when addressing HPA axis dysfunction.

Dr. Zandra Palma is a Functional Medicine physician with a background in internal medicine and anesthesiology. Her interest in root-cause medicine began in college when she studied human evolutionary biology at Harvard University. Dr. Palma attended medical school at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her Functional Medicine training in the Kresser Institute’s ADAPT fellowship.

Dr. Amy Shah is a double board-certified medical doctor and wellness expert specializing in allergy, immunology, hormones, and gut health. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cornell University's School of Nutrition and went on to complete her MD, residency and fellowship training at Einstein, Harvard, and Columbia University hospitals. She's been named in the Top Doc list 2016, '17,'18, '19 and '20 by Phoenix Magazine and featured on national TV and magazines such as Elle, People, Shape, and Allure. Her first book, I'm So Effing Tired was just released.

If I had to pick one supplement that has made the biggest difference in my overall health, it would be magnesium. I personally started taking magnesium to help with my sleep, especially when I travel, and it’s been super helpful. But I don’t take just any old magnesium, I take BiOptimizers Magnesium Breakthrough. It contains 7 different forms of magnesium, which all have different functions in the body. I haven’t found anything else like it on the market. Right now, BiOptimizers is offering my community a few special bundles and for a limited time BiOptimizers is also giving away free bottles of their bestselling products P3OM and Masszymes with select purchases, just head over to magbreakthrough.com/dhru with code DHRU10.

InsideTracker looks at everything from metabolic and inflammatory markers to nutrients and hormones. It even tests your cortisol levels to help you better manage stress and you have the option to see how your inner age compares to your chronological age. Traditional lab tests can be hard to read on your own, but InsideTracker makes their results easy to understand and even provides tips on how to use food first for optimal nutrition.
