Protecting Your Own Mental Health as a Sleep Consultant with Elizabeth Baron

Protecting Your Own Mental Health as a Sleep Consultant with Elizabeth Baron

Elizabeth Baron is a NY State Licensed Mental Health Counselor and psychotherapist with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University’s Teachers College. Her primary clinical focus is maternal mental health – from preconception and pregnancy, through postpartum and parenting. Previously, she worked as a therapist at The Motherhood Center (TMC) of New York, where she developed her expertise in treating Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders. While at The Motherhood Center, she also served as the Community Partnerships lead and worked to educate new and expecting mothers and clinical providers on the importance of maternal mental health. Today she provides individual therapy in her private practice, moderates several support groups, and offers webinars and educational talks to several different brands across the parenting space. Deeply committed to destigmatizing maternal mental health issues, she is passionate about helping women through all stages of motherhood.
On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant Podcast Elizabeth and I discussed:- How we as sleep consultants can work to release some of the emotional load that we carry on behalf of our clients- That humanizing the experience of sleep and mothering in a more realistic frame for life leads to a more positive and successful experience for both parents and sleep consultants- The need for boundaries in our businesses. And that it’s ok to give ourselves grace if it feels difficult to set those boundaries in the very beginning. It takes time!

In Order to Succeed, You Have to be Willing to Try with Jayne Havens

In Order to Succeed, You Have to be Willing to Try with Jayne Havens

Sometimes we are our own biggest roadblocks on this journey through entrepreneurship. We have big ideas, we dream up big plans, but then our own self-doubt and fear of failure creeps in and we hold ourselves back.
I was chatting with a prospective CPSM student who expressed that her only hesitation in enrolling in the program is the business piece. She has never started her own business and that feels scary and overwhelming. She knows she will be great at supporting families, and she is passionate about healthy sleep habits for children, but what if she fails? Well, you can’t succeed if you don’t even try!
On this episode of the Becoming a Sleep Consultant podcast I share:- That the irony around fear of failure is that if you are so afraid to fail that you don’t even try, then you failed before even getting started!- How we can relate these feelings we have as sleep consultants back to our clients. When our clients are finally ready to make a change, and try to teach their child to fall asleep in a new way, that’s when they can have a really meaningful transformation!- When you say yes to yourself, that’s the very first step on your new adventure. It’s sometimes scary, always thrilling, and entirely worth it!

Great podcast that motivates and helps consultants continue to grow and learn!

I recently decided to become a sleep consultant after being a family assistant/nanny/household manager for 13yrs. The course is amazing and this adds on to the course. It’s helps you navigate and see things more clearly AFTER you become a consultant. When I have bad days & feel unmotivated I rely on these episodes full of wonderful knowledgeable people to lift my spirits up. I’m continuing to learn about entrepreneurship through these podcasts. The advice and attitude is spot on. Thanks Jayne!

Jayne is so inspirational

My child, for the first year of his life, was a terrible sleeper. We decided to hire a sleep consultant. During this process I started to research the job “sleep consultant”. Being a SAHM who loves
helping others and would like to help financially in her home, sleep consultant sounded like a good career. I just wanted to do the actual sleep training with my baby to see if it works… it’s an actual miracle.. it does work. Now I have been binge listening to Jayne’s podcast and checking out her sleep consulting course. I was even able to talk to her personally and she is so kind and helpful!! I 10/10 recommend listening to this podcast and checking out her FB page, “Becoming a Sleep Consultant”!
