Are You Ready For Next Thursday?

Are You Ready For Next Thursday?

It's a big day, Thursday 22nd April 2021... we're launching Atlantic on Kickstarter! If you're new to Kickstarter, it's a brilliant way for customers to pre-order new art and products to help fund their production. In short: it helps small businesses like us to get things made! So from next Thursday at 9AM UK time, you'll be able to be one of the first people in the world to pre-order Atlantic. Exciting stuff indeed - with your help, it's coming to life...

In this week's episode we go into our three favourite Kickstarters of all time. From Amadeus to Atlantic, via the Statue of Liberty. One of these worth mentioning is the fantastic 'The Road Goes Both Ways' by Solomon's Hollow. Check it out on Spotify. It was created via Kickstarter some years ago and is our theme music. Have a listen, it's brilliant.

And be sure to visit thomasclipper.com/atlantic next Thursday (22nd April, 2021) to be one of the first to get your hands on Atlantic...

An Atlantic Island - w. This Northern Boy

An Atlantic Island - w. This Northern Boy

Packaging design for a fragrance is as important as sleeve art for an LP. It helps prepare you for what you're about to experience. So it's with a great deal of excitement that we're introducing the amazing This Northern Boy who's collaborating with us to create original art for Atlantic.

The conversation covers imaginary worlds, escapism and of course our promised Atlantic Island Discs where Stu, Antonio, Matt and Rob aka This Northern Boy share the songs that we think capture the positivity, optimism and depth of the new Thomas Clipper fragrance.

Have a listen to the full Atlantic playlist, including the songs we mentioned in the podcast, here at thomasclipper.com/atlanticplaylist.

Creating A New Men's Fragrance - Where To Begin?

Creating A New Men's Fragrance - Where To Begin?

Hello! We're Matt and Antonio. We're the founders of Thomas Clipper, an independent men’s cologne business based in London.

If you’re interested in why scent is so important, how new men’s colognes are created and how a small business brings a new product to market, this weekly podcast is for you.

That’s because we’re embarking on the development our newest fragrance - Atlantic. As we’re recording this we’ve got no idea what its exact scent profile is, no idea what it looks like and only the faintest idea of how and when it’s going to launch.

But in this series we’re going to be letting you into how we get from here, to launch (whenever that is). We’ll share what goes into a fragrance brief, how modern scent is made, what we look for when developing a new cologne and how scent shapes culture.

This week we're asking 'why is scent important' (this New York Times article mentioned in the podcast is worth a read), 'what's a nose' (bear with us) and whether we should call the podcast 'Fragonomics' (we should, but we didn't).  Thanks for joining us!
