    O Little Town of Bethlehem

O Little Town of Bethlehem December 14, 2025 Elwyn Johnston Micah 5:2 Verse of the Week: "Do not despise the day of small things." principle of Zechariah 4:10 1. God uses small things for His supernatural purpose. “Jesus was born in Bethlehem” Matthew 2:1 Size does not limit God, but the depth of our surrender can. “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” James 4:6 “humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.” 1 Peter 5:6 “formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor” 1 Timothy 1:13 “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of His great patience with even the worst sinners.” 1 Timothy 1:15 & 16 God is not looking for flash. God is looking for faithfulness. 2. God will show up “But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son” Gal. 4:4 “While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, the time came for Mary to have her child. And she gave birth to her firstborn son.” Lk. 2:6 & 7 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 “I’m convinced that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it through to completion” Philippians 1:6 “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” Luke 18:27 “Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken….everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up…from the city of Nazareth, to…Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David” Luke 2:1, 3, & 4 3. Let the light of Christmas shine through you “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:5

    Joy To The World

Joy to the World December 7, 2025 Elwyn Johnston Luke 2:8 – 20 Verse of the Week: “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.” Psalm 98:4 1. God desires for you to walk in joy “there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night.” Luke 2:8 God came to the shepherds and God comes to us. God’s joy can break through your night. “when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” James 1:2 & 3 “Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross” Hebrews 12:2 “In Your presence is fullness of joy” Psalm 16:11 2. We have joy because of the good news “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people” Luke 2:10 We do not have to walk in fear. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 “Be anxious for nothing” Philippians 4:6 Lasting joy is rooted in the good news “there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” Luke 2:11 “I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:11 “The joy of the Lord is your strength” Nehemiah 8:10 Share the good news with others. “After seeing the baby Jesus, the shepherds told what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.” Luke 2:17 “the truth will set you free” John 8:32 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea” Psalm 46:1 & 2

    Paul's Prison Perspective

Paul’s Prison Perspective November 23, 2025 Elwyn Johnston Philippians 1 – 4 Verse of the Week: “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice.” Philippians 4:4 1. Joy comes from community “I have eagerly sent Epaphroditus back to you so that when you see him again you can rejoice” Philippians 2:28 2. Generosity blesses others “I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity.” Philippians 4:10 “in Thessalonica you sent a gift more than once” Phil. 4:16 “I have received everything in full and have an abundance; I am amply supplied” Philippians 4:18 “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart” Luke 6:45 3. God’s Word changes lives “the message about Christ is being preached, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.” Philippians 1:18 “All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household.” Philippians 4:22 “I suffer hardship even to imprisonment…but the word of God is not imprisoned.” 2 Timothy 2:9 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me void, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 4. We know we are making an eternal impact “Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless. But I will rejoice even if I lose my life, pouring it out like a liquid offering to God” Philippians 2:16 & 17 5. God is in control “rejoice in the Lord” Philippians 3:1 “rejoice in Christ Jesus” Philippians 3:3 “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice.” Phil. 4:4 "give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:18

    The Great Trade

The Great Trade November 16, 2025 Elwyn Johnston Philippians 3:2 - 11 Verse of the Week: “that I may know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death” Philippians 3:10 1. Don’t rely on past investments “Beware” Philippians 3:2 “circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee” Philippians 3:5 2. Make a trade “whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ.” Philippians 3:7 “I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ” Philippians 3:8 “knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” Philippians 3:8 “that I may know Christ.” Philippians 3:10 Religion says – I obey, therefore I’m accepted. Relationship says – I’m accepted therefore I obey “that I may know…the power of His resurrection” Philippians 3:10 “the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you” Romans 8:11 “that I may know…the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death” Philippians 3:10 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runs into it and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10 “in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Philippians 3:11

    The Priority of Family

The Priority of Family Genesis 1:27–28a  So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. 28 God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it.” Genesis 2:22–24  Then the Lord God made the rib he had taken from the man into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 And the man said: This one, at last, is bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh; this one will be called “woman,” for she was taken from man. 24 This is why a man leaves his father and mother and bonds with his wife, and they become one flesh. Family is our priority opportunity to fulfill the will of God. Every family will be a target of The Enemy’s efforts.   The Gospel is good news for families.  Matthew 22:36–39  “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. God’s Two Priorities For Families 1. Seek First The Kingdom Of God Matthew 6:31–34  So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. 34 Therefore don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. 2. Love Each Other With The Love Of God 1 Corinthians 13:4–8a  Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant, 5 is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not irritable, and does not keep a record of wrongs. 6 Love finds no joy in unrighteousness but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends.
