  1. Men Acting Like Little Boys - MTP485

Men Acting Like Little Boys - MTP485

Co-Host Shlomo Slatkin (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/shlomo) My first-time guest is Shlomo Slatkin. In addition to being a Rabbi in Baltimore, he's also the founder of the Marriage Restoration Project. He has a lot of valuable insights into modern manhood, our relationships with women and the missing rite of passage from boyhood to manhood in today's culture. First off, Shlomo is a man who walks the talk. He and his wife have a great relationship and are raising a beautiful family. In his daily life, Shlomo works with men who want to achieve a closer connection with the woman in their lives but are at somewhat of a loss as to how to do so. Interestingly, he believes it's not because they lack knowledge or resilience, but rather because they've outgrown the emotional survival strategies they learned as boys. Shlomo is all about unlearning those outdated patterns and showing up with clarity, presence and emotional honesty. So how do we as men take ownership of our emotions instead of shaming or blaming? Could it be that we often feel threatened in relationships, even though we're supposed to be the man of the house? How can we avoid being either a petulant child or a passive wuss? Where is the "balance" in a relationship with a woman that keeps our power and dignity intact as men, while honoring and protecting those we love? In a world where far too many men are running around like 40-year-old little boys who never grew up, Shlomo's message is just the kick in the pants we need nowadays. Have you discovered VAMANOS yet? 2. How To Handle A Woman's Time Of The Month - MTP484

How To Handle A Woman's Time Of The Month - MTP484

Co-Host Ada Gore (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/gore) My first-time guest Ada Gore is a brave--and terrific--woman. Despite angels themselves fearing to tread upon today's topic, she boldly goes there. What you're about to get, gentlemen, is the definitive guide to understanding women's monthly cycle. Now, I know what you're saying...what does this have to do with me? Well, if you want to successfully relate to women and navigate your relationship with her like a champion, this is one of those details you have GOT to get right. The problem is, according to Ada many women don't even understand what's going on there, let alone men. So first off, what qualifies Ada to be the woman to tell us all of this? Next, what difficulties did she and her husband have as a couple before they wrapped their heads around the issue? Ada teaches something called the Four Inner Seasons framework. What's up with that and how does it give crystal clarity to the topic? And what about us as men? Do we have "seasons" of our own that we go through? (Hey, don't knock it 'til you try it.)  On another note, what exactly is PMS, anyway, and how can we make it suck less for us as men?  What actually are the biggest mistakes we as men make when coping with women's "time of the month"? And how are women not off the hook here (no excuses!) Next, what's the "women work different" framework? And what has happened over the last century or so to, if anything, decrease how well men and women understand each other? And most of all, what's up with all the '60s music references? Social Networking Gets Women - MTP483

Co-Host George Dubec (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/networker) What if you could leverage your entire social network to find women to date? Or even your future wife? We're not talking about your aunt Gertrude setting you up with her friend's "nice" daughter here, for sure. My first-time guest George Dubec has developed what he calls the Referral Matchmaking System, and it's like being a "connector" on steroids. While talking about that is way too much fun in and of itself, we kick off the episode with war stories from when George was a classic ladies' man, long before the PUA movement was even thought about. He had the Saturday Night Fever clothes and the Smokey And The Bandit car. How much of his "old school" strategy still applies today? More than you think. For example, wait until you hear his answer to women showing up on dates with a bunch of endless Q & A. And what about chemistry? George has an interesting definition for that, as far as male/female interaction is concerned. Next, George talks about what he calls "The Love List". And it looks like we just coined "The Wingman Workshop" right after that. Next, we talk about the weirdest version of "approach anxiety" that's very real, but which nobody ever talks about...and yes, it has everything to do with social networking. And who exactly should we let "network" us into a date? There's a clear answer to that one. What If You're Disappointed? - MTP482

Co-Host Emily McKay (https://www.deservewhatyouwant.com) Well, here's the first thing you can figure out, just from the title: Emily and I are obviously not disappointed enough in each other to avoid such a touchy topic. BUT...maybe that's a clue why this relational disappointment thing never gets talked about much. So what are we actually covering here? I mean, isn't it unrealistic to get into a relationship thinking everything is always going to be perfect and ideal? That brings up the concept of "macro-disappointments" vs. "micro-disappointments". And what about other couple's Facebook highlight reels that only show the shiny, happy stuff? Is that driving unreasonable disappointment on the part of the rest of us? Is there really such thing as "the seven-year itch", and if so is it more about disappointment or boredom? And hey, wait a minute. Isn't boredom disappointing? Does long-term disappointment usually start right at the beginning of a relationship? Why is that? And what about this business of "spicing up a relationship"? How does that work to ward off potential disappointment? Why is being each other's best friend a magic elixir to cure disappointment? What if what causes disappointment is legitimately beyond the control of the disappointing partner? What if a partner is intentionally disappointing, and expecting to get away with it? Why does being "nice" disappoint WAGs? How do couples put their relationship at blatant risk for disappointment? Why is comfort the enemy of marriage excitement? Finally, what if you're actually IN a deeply disappointing relationship. Now what? And by the way, is it any wonder that Rupert Holmes was a "one hit wonder"?
