    Why do bi+ people experience higher rates of poor mental health?

In this episode, the Big Bi+ Questions team was joined by relationship counsellor and mental health social worker Anthony Lekkas to unpack this important topic.     For a long time, bi+ representation on TV was rare—and when it did appear, it often wasn’t great. One infamous example? The Sex and the City episode Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl…, where Carrie and her friends react very poorly to bisexuality. But how far have we come since then? On this episode of Big Bi+ Questions, the team is joined by writer, journalist, and author Patrick Lenton to discuss the evolution of bi+ TV representation. From harmful tropes to more recent portrayals that actually get it right, we dive into how bi+ characters have been depicted over time—and why it matters. Thankfully, Associate Professor Benjamin Bavinton and PhD candidate Bella Bushby, from the Bi+ Sexual Health and HIV (BiSHH) survey, join them to chat about why more bi+ research is needed and how results from the BiSHH survey will help shape research, advocacy, and better healthcare for bi+ people.
