Ep 69- How to go from Professional Basketball to Real Estate Investing

This episode with Marcus Williams was powerful! Marcus played professional basketball in the NBA and China before retiring to spend more time with his children. His turning point came when he told his financial advisor that he planned to use the money he invested with her to invest in real estate. She didn't agree with this move, but it changed his life!

Initially, he tried to buy a home for himself and lost $80,000 in earnest money. He didn't give up after this experience and he purchased a multi unit property shortly after. Rehabbing this property and managing tenants gave him valuable lessons that impacted his investing from that point on.

Marcus eventually became a real estate agent and broker with a focus on helping first time homebuyers. He has also invested in more multi family properties in Seattle.

In this episode, we discuss his basketball career, investing in Seattle, helping first time homebuyers, growing his portfolio and more.

Lack of decent questions asked. Terrible audio quality

I found this podcast while searching for more info around VA Home Loans. Found this and thought it would be promising. Nope. The questions asked are surface level and not actually discussed in detail. The guests talk as if their not on a podcast, super quiet and hard to understand or hear. The guest mentioned “hidden fees you’re responsible for paying that they don’t tell you about” and the host didn’t ask what they were!!! Just beeezed right past it. Talk about frustrating when that’s exactly what I wanted to hear. I hope this is read and used to improve the podcast.
