On Friday, July 29th, 1966, Bob Dylan crashed his Triumph 500 motorcycle on a road in Woodstock, an artists’ colony in upstate New York. And then he disappeared. For ten days, as Dylan recovered privately in the house of a local doctor, few people knew if he was dead or alive. When he resurfaced, he was transformed. He looked different. He sounded different. What exactly happened to Bob Dylan during those ten days? Was he actually recovering from injuries sustained in the accident? Detoxing from heavy drug use? Was he suffering a mental breakdown, having just completed a polarizing world tour and released a game-changing double album? Or, as Dylan himself suggested in an extremely unorthodox interview decades later, had he actually undergone…transfiguration? Part true crime, part historical fiction, part spoken word lo-fi beat noir brought to you by Jake Brennan, and featuring the fictionalized voices of numerous transfigured versions of Bob Dylan, BLOOD ON THE TRACKS sounds like nothing you’ve heard before. Because you can’t push the needle into the red without leaving a little blood on the tracks.

Introducing 27 Club Season 5: Ron "Pigpen" McKernan

Hey, Blood on the Tracks fans! Listen to Season 5 of the 27 Club to hear the insane details behind the life of one of rock's greatest icons — Ron "Pigpen" McKernan. A founding member of the Grateful Dead. Pigpen wasn't just a member of the Dead. He was the Dead. But just like Brian Jones in the Rolling Stones or Syd Barrett in Pink Floyd, Pigpen felt his role in the Grateful Dead shrink as the rest of the band members expanded their minds and their sound. The story of Pigpen is about a major musical and cultural shift that took place as the 1960s gave way to the 1970s. It’s a story of acid tests and bottles of Thunderbird, of angels from hell and a nine-fingered wizard, of busts down on Bourbon Street and shakedowns in the Haight…and of the man who tried to pull his band back down to earth as they continued to get pulled higher into the cosmos. It's a story that ends tragically...at the age of 27.

Bob Dylan’s Restless Farewell (A Bob Dylan Story, Chapter 10)

Trees grow tall, leaves fall, rivers dry up, and flowers die. New people are born every day. Life doesn’t stop. Sometimes things can change in an instant—a gunshot to the head, a man losing control of a motorbike—but sometimes things take years to change. And sometimes, like in the curious case of Bob Dylan, a man can go through a lifetime of change in just ten days.

Nine days after his near-fatal accident, Bob Dylan has become increasingly consumed with his own mortality. He sees the world as a much older, and perhaps wiser, man. There’s also another brush with fate on yet another motorcycle…a harrowing moment that he may never escape.

Bob Dylan Is a Dead Man (A Bob Dylan Story, Chapter 7)

Bob Dylan Is a Dead Man (A Bob Dylan Story, Chapter 7)

Bob Dylan continues to recover from his motorcycle accident in upstate New York. He thinks of the things he’s done that he’s not proud of. The depths to which he’s sunk, only to find that you can always go lower. He worries that the words will stop coming. He yearns to hide in the skin of someone who is not Bob Dylan. Someone who can play “dead” one moment and break hearts the next. Someone who plays a pink guitar. Someone who sees the touch of grey in every silver lining.

Worst Background Music ,

What’s with the creepy voice?

Decent story to listen to, but the weird distorted voice is a total distraction and unnecessary. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should….

Fun1894 ,

Creepy

Creepy voice and continual loud background music. Just awful

Bob Dylan’s finale

I’ve listened to every season of blood on the tracks as well as disgraceland, about a girl, and 27 club. The finale for Bob Dylan’s season was insightful and inspiring. Being from Minnesota, the ending is a breath of fresh air at the end.
