It's been an up-and-down season for both teams, with the Tar Heels starting the year at pre-season #1 and ending the season missing out on the NCAA Tournament. On the other end of Tobacco Road, the season ended with the Blue Devils winning the ACC Tournament, followed by a loss in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to the Tennesee Volunteers. Hassan and Connor discuss the highlights of the season and the ongoing issues for both teams as they move forward to the next season.

As we head into the second game of this year's Blue Blood Rivalry game, both teams are hitting their stride on the basketball court. Duke is coming off five straight wins, while the Tar Heels have won three in a row. With another win, UNC aims to punch its ticket in the NCAA tournament. Duke is widely considered a lock in the NCAA tournament by most pundits, and the Blue Blood Rivalry battle continues on Tobacco Road.

A lot has happened since Hassan and Connor last recorded on the Blue Blood Rivalry podcast. UNC has been in a downward spiral and sits at 16-11 overall and 8-8 in the ACC. Duke has fared slightly better, and they sit at 20-8 overall and 11-6 in the ACC. UNC has lost its last two games and will likely miss the tournament without a seismic shift in their play. Carolina will have to win at least 3 of their four remaining games, and the Duke game could decide if they make it into the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Duke won their last three but lost to Virginia with a controversial call at the end of the game. The Blue Devils are in an excellent position to make the tournament and make noise in the ACC tournament.

Duke has been on a two-game win streak, and Carolina dropped a close game to Pitt. Both teams are right in the middle of the pack in the ACC, with Duke at 16-6 and Carolina at 15-7. Both teams still have a chance to win the ACC regular season title, but the window of opportunity is closing fast. It looks good for Carolina and Duke to receive a bid and make the NCAA Tournament, but the Blue Blood Rivalry game will propel one of the teams forward while moving the other backward.
