Tonight’s guest is author Bob Sampson. Bob lives in Southern Illinois and has written two books. His first, a biography of John L. O’Sullivan (a 19th century journalist, diplomat, and advocate for lost causes) came out in 2003.
His second book Ballists, Dead Beats, and Muffins: Inside Early Baseball in Illinoiswill be released on May 2 of this year. The book discusses how baseball swept through Illinois in the years following the end of the Civil War in 1865.
