BONUS EPISODE 17: Picture This - Feeling Comfortable & Confident in Front of the Lens: Photography for Dancers With Sam Fink dance tips daily

    • Performing Arts

Sam Fink grew up dancing and spent majority of her life in a dance studio or on stage. Though she's always had a camera of some sort and has  loved documenting moments of her life through the lens, dance is what led her to starting her own photography business. Being a dancer, there are many moments where you have to be in front of the camera. Sam never had great experiences: she didn’t feel comfortable or feel like she  could fully be herself with a camera in her face or she felt like she was either being given too much direction or not enough. It was stressful. Turns out, Sam ended up loving being behind the camera instead. She began to realize that what she was wanting when she was being photographed was to be uplifted and encouraged to simply be herself. That’s it. From that moment, Sam decided it was her job as photographer to ensure that every single person who gets in front of her camera feels empowered and encouraged to show up exactly as they are.
