James McNeely is a triathlete, adventure-seeker, and successful businessperson, with over 30 years of experience in the fast-paced, ed-tech industry. Some of the companies that he’s worked for are well known success stories, like Apple Computer, Toshiba, and Pearson - the world’s largest education company.
In his work roles, he’s served in both sales and sales management, acquiring decades of experience with both customers and sales employees. McNeely admits, however, to having the most “fun” as a customer-facing salesperson, while working for small, cutting edge startups, endeavoring to bring new technology to students and ground-breaking teaching tools to educators.
In his book, “The 7 Meditations of a Happy Salesman”, he chronicles his quest to uncover truth in the strange, but rewarding, life of the frontline customer worker. He offers new thinking for the 21st Century businessperson, while also exposing mindless “groupthink” and business mantras for what they really are.
On the personal side, McNeely and his wife of 35 years have two grown children and two grandchildren. When he’s not working with customers or chasing after grandkids, he’s training for bike races, open water swims (like Alcatraz), or triathlons.
