Raining on my head ,

Hammer Classics!

I’ve not sat to watch a Hammer film in over a decade, but I’ve seen them all multiple times. It’s great to be reminded of all the trivia I knew (and forgot) about the actors and directors. And yes- so much cross over with Doctor Who!

The dialogue between the hosts is high energy and we can tell they love these films. It’s fun to listen to.

The sound has issues. It can be distracting. But it’s oodles of fun. Even as a straight woman, I can appreciate boobs and blood. And I love badassses.

Hammer Horror!

I stumbled across this podcast the other day and really enjoy the fun and conversational nature of the two hosts. The films are discussed with fondness and you can tell they really enjoy the material they cover. There is a sense of humor about things that doesn't make fun of the films yet instead embraces them. The main hosts are very entertaining.

My input has to do with techincal issues; editing and audio levels. There are some segments where a section of audio repeats itself and others where an interview ends abruptly. Example of the latter is the episode for Satanic Rites of Dracula. The host is interviewing the historian who did the commentary and asks him about the multiple titles for the film. The historian starts to explain and the conversation ends abruptly before the answer is provided. Not sure if he was just cut off or that part was edited out. The answer is never explained. Audio wise - there is usually one segment and host / guest whose levels are really up/hot so you constantly have to adjust the volume to avoid your ears from being blown out. Example would be the episode on Frankestein Created Woman. The audio level on the interview with the historian at the beginning is really loud then the rest of the episode is lower. In the episode for Dracula Prince of Darkness, the level on one of the co-hosts is really hot whereas the other two you have to strain to listen or constantly adjust the volume. In addition - that episode just cuts off and ends in the middle of a story about accidents with stuntpeople. They never finished the discussion on the film which was very enjoyable. A review of the material before an episode is posted would be really helpful.
