As a kid, Scott fell in love with the idea of storytelling after watching Star Wars Ep IV (back when it was still known just as “Star Wars”). However, even after completing a B.A. in Creative Writing, Scott didn’t get around to seriously slinging words until decades later.

He hasn’t stopped since.

Scott’s current series – Little Yokai – is an urban fantasy procedural featuring lots of Japanese supernatural spirits and a main character reluctantly working for a magic law enforcement agency. Scott brought his love of Japan and his fascination with Japanese mythology to Little Yokai.

Scott has also designed and produced LARP experiences and has been running original D&D campaigns for years. And he’s been promoting and exploring shared worlds for almost twenty years, so saying yes to writing in the Delta Underground Operatives world was a no-brainer!

From early in life, Kimbra Swain was indoctrinated in the ways of geekdom. Raised on Star Wars, Tolkien, Superheroes, and Voltron, she found herself immersed in a world of imagination. She started writing in high school and completed her English degree from the University of Alabama in 2003.

Her writing is influenced by a gamut of authors including Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, L.M. Montgomery, Timothy Zahn, Kathy Reichs, Kevin Hearne, and Jim Butcher.

Born and raised in Alabama, Kimbra still lives there with her husband, daughter, and two dogs. When she isn’t reading or writing, she plays PC games, makes jewelry, and listens to music.



Kimbra is the creator of the Delta Underground Operatives shared world and one of the twelve authors writing books in the DUO universe. Our guest this week is Kat Lapatovich Healy. Kat’s a displaced Yankee living in the middle of the Midwest heartland. A biochemist-turned-aspiring author, she loves all fantasy, science fiction, basically anything with some sassy wit, cool tech, and action-movie heroics. You’ll find that in her work, along with characters struggling to connect with not only others, but themselves as well. When she’s not glued to her computer, she daydreams about when she’ll be able to go snorkeling again, bakes way too many pastries, and tries to grow things in her garden. She’s pretty bad at it, but she’s hopeful. The plants aren’t.

This week on the show I interview author Gemma Clatworthy. Gemma loves writing and started publishing her stories during the 2020 Coronavirus lockdown. As well as her debut urban fantasy series, Rise of Dragons, she writes children’s books and has a craft blog.











She lives with her family and their two cats in Wiltshire, UK. In her spare time, Gemma enjoys crafts of all kinds and playing board games.











Gemma is also one of the amazing authors (myself included) appearing in the upcoming Urban Fantasy short story anthology, Summer Solstice Shenanigans anthology.
