Mini BOP: A TASTE OF BLOOD

Mini BOP: A TASTE OF BLOOD

We all consider the possibility our parents are vampires, but do we have the guts to actually go through with the staking? Mike ponders this question, along with pondering the fangerific (sorry) new horror movie from Argentina, A TASTE OF BLOOD, coming at us from writer-director  Santiago Fernandez Calvete and loosely based on A.K. Tolstoy's The Family Of The Vourdalak. With unique alterations on vampire mythology and an intimate story of paranoia and familial breakdowns, how does A TASTE OF BLOOD fit into the long and proud lineage of bloodsucker cinema? THE BLACK PHONE

    THE BLACK PHONE

From the ashes of a Raimi-less Doctor Strange sequel from another multiverse comes Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill's exemplary adaptation of Joe Hill's THE BLACK PHONE, which gifts us a new horror icon in Ethan Hawke's THE GRABBER and some of the best child performances since IT! Cody and Mike ring up some ghosts themselves to dive into the 70s trappings, heady themes, the ways Derrickson and Cargill expand and improve the short tale, and for some reason debate whether or not the LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT remake should have included the chainsaw massacre or not. Mini BOP - X

    Mini BOP - X

After toiling in the lucrative salt mines of television for the last few years, Ti West has returned to film with his most unique-- and haunting-- film yet, with the A24-produced geezersploitation slasher X. Ruined by horrible laughter. Don’t bother.

I keep forgetting why I need to unsubscribe to this podcast until I try to listen to one and hear one of the hosts unleash his abrupt out of place jerky-jerky backwards breathing inward monkey laughter, his laughter doesn’t seem natural in two ways, first it’s so awful sounding you’d just rather do anything else, but it also sounds forced or contrived in some way... just unnaturally stupid. It always takes me right out of the experience of commentary mode. For me it completely ruins the show.

What a blast!

This show is just so fun. It’s got a laid back vibe, the hosts have truly great chemistry, and their banter isn’t boring... which is refreshing.

They will teach you some stuff and make you laugh. Subscribe to this show and do yourself a favor!
