    All For Christ Colossians 3:12-17

    All For Christ Colossians 3:12-17

What should our lives look like as followers of Christ? That is the main question we will be answering from Colossians 3 this week. Last week, we learned all about the old clothes from our old life that we are called to "put off," and this week, we will learn all about the new clothes of Christ that we are called to "put on." As we worship at Prairie High School again this week, it is important to remember that we are the same people, wor-shipping the same God, even though we are in a new place. See you at Prairie on Sunday!

    What Difference Does it Make?

    What Difference Does it Make?

This weekend we have two "holydays." Two special days of worship to which we can also invite others to join us. We focus on Jesus' death for us on Good Friday and on His resurrection on Easter Sunday. Without these two realities, there would be no reason for us to gather on any Sunday, move to Prairie High School, or build up the church body or buildings. That gets me thinking...what else has Jesus' resurrection changed? What difference has it made? What difference could it make? That's what we'll talk about on Sunday.

How to be Spiritual? Colossians 2:16-23

How to be Spiritual? Colossians 2:16-23

Colossians chapter 2 declares that Christ is everything, so don't settle for nothing. Unfortunately much of what passes for spirituality is nothing, rather than everything. There have always been steps to follow, rules to obey, and disciplines to perform. But none of these, however wise and spiritual they may seem, will keep us from sin and lead us in new life. How then do we live the new life we have in Christ? Let's talk about it on Sunday.

    Clean Out the Closets

    Clean Out the Closets

Tomorrow is a big work day. We are moving offices, moving items into storage and cleaning out a lot of clos-ets. It's surprising and a little embarrassing what we find tucked away in unseen spaces - things we didn't real-ize we were still holding onto. This is true for our minds as well. There might be values, assumptions and principles we picked up long ago, that really don't fit with where we're now going. In Colossians 2, like a church on the move, it's out with the old and on to the new.

    A Pastor's Struggle

    A Pastor's Struggle

The book of Colossians gives us a glimpse into Paul's heart for ministry. Last week in 1:28-29 we saw the goal of our salvation and the joy set before us. This week in 2:1-7 we are urged to press into that goal. But there is also a warning, the potential for sorrow. Many are growing in knowing and following Christ, but some will not. That was Paul's struggle, his joy and sorrow. This Sunday we'll talk about the true treasure you seek, the danger that threatens it, and our best way forward.

    Everyone in Ministry

    Everyone in Ministry

We are getting ready to move our Sunday ministries to Prairie High School during construction. Last Sunday we were told that to worship together at PHS everyone has a job to do - but this is not new. Actually, Jesus has always intended for church to be highly participatory, a church is a body functioning by each part, not a per-formance by a chosen few. In Colossians 1:28-29 the most repeated word is "everyone." Each one matters and everyone is in ministry, helping others to know and grow in Jesus.
