Ep 12: What Does Gun Control Look Like In Canada? w/ Scott Martin AKA Pinko Punko
First, some words on the Texas shooting, and about how capitalism creates violence and suppresses the solutions that actually work--because they aren't profitable.
Then, as a follow-up to Episode 10 (the Great Gun Debate), I talk with Scott Martin (Pinko Punko on TikTok & YouTube) about what gun control looks like in Canada, where we don't have very many mass shootings.
NOTE: The interview portion of this episode was recorded before the Texas school shooting.

Ep 11: How capitalist governments screwed up the covid response, w/ Nora Loreto
They screwed up. We know they did. But Nora found out exactly why and how. In this episode, I interview Nora Loreto (of Sandy & Nora Talk Politics) about how neoliberal politicians and journalists serve a system that prioritizes profit and its own maintenance over human life. We also discuss the question: how afraid of long covid should we be? What amount of fear is helpful at a personal level?
Nora's new book is Spin Doctors: How Media and Politicians Misdiagnosed the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Ep 10: Should leftists embrace guns? (feat. Dick Powis & Taylor Genovese)
Guns: Are they... good? Should socialists get armed? What role should guns play in our lives now, and in a post-capitalist society? Two pro-gun communist anthropologists attempt to change my mind from "guns bad" to "guns good."
Today's guests are Dick Powis (@dtpowis) and Taylor Genovese (@trgenovese). Bread and Poppies is hosted by Hilary Agro (@hilaryagro on social media), anthropologist and anti-prohibition activist.

Ep 9: Injustice (pt 2): Caged in 2022 for selling a plant, w/ Daniel Muessig
A few weeks from now, Daniel Muessig will walk into a US federal prison, where he will spend the next 5 years. In the year 2022, he is being caged because he sold a plant, cannabis, to people who wanted it. In Part 2 of this 3-part interview series, he tells the story of how his life was stolen from him. We talk about how the justice system isn't actually broken—it's working exactly as intended. (Skip the first 4 minutes to go straight to the interview.)

Prescient!
This is a wonderful podcast. The host, Hilary, is incredibly smart and tackles topics with a special urgency that’s unfortunately missing from a lot of other podcasts that occupy similar spaces. I highly recommend this podcast to anybody!
One of the most underrated leftist podcasts
If this high quality work is what we get when Hilary has limited time and resources, just imagine how incredible this show could be if we all committed monthly payments to her Patreon, I mean my God
