A B*tch Drops Her Beauty Routine ft. HBIC Jackie Schimmel

Jackie Schimmel is the unfiltered host behind the podcast, The Bitch Bible –  “A podcast that dares to say what many are thinking, but only a bitch would say.” OG fans tune in for Jackie’s unapologetic rants on Bravo-lebs, pop culture, sex, millennial struggles, social faux-pas, tapeworms, hell, even bagels.

In this week’s episode, we ask ‘What’s on a bitch’s topshelf?’ Jackie drops the surprising skincare line she swears by (hint: we’ve never heard of it,) the one makeup product she would smuggle into jail if she could, how-to deal with straw hair, plastic surgery truths, the dos and don’ts of bathroom snooping, what she’s buying for her swag new bathroom and so much more.

Ear muff alert! There’s no bleeping a bitch, so please (as Jackie would say!) buckle up for some explicit language this week.

Supergoop! Founder Holly Thaggard on Creating a Sunscreen Wardrobe, The Truth About SPF 100 & What's Up With PA+ Ratings

Supergoop! Founder Holly Thaggard on Creating a Sunscreen Wardrobe, The Truth About SPF 100 & What's Up With PA+ Ratings

When was the first time you realized that you need to wear SPF not just during the summer, but every damn day of the year? For elementary school teacher Holly Thaggard, it was a lightbulb moment that occurred after a close friend was struck with skin cancer in 2005, and the start of an entrepreneurial career that would lead to her lifelong dedication to suncare advocacy in schools – and the birth of Supergoop!, now a staple in many a glowy girl’s skincare routine.

In today’s episode, you’ll find out how the industry’s biggest sunscreen darling changed the game completely, introducing the idea of a “sunscreen wardrobe” that now offers over 40 different ways to apply every single day (PS - three units of Supergoop!’s iconic Unseen Sunscreen now sell every single minute). You’ll hear why turning down Sephora was the key to becoming one of their best-sellers. Plus, Holly gives us an easy-to-understand explainer on everything you want to know about sunscreen now, like:

What’s behind the rise in combination sunscreens that combine both chemical and mineral filters What a PA+ rating means on a label and why it’s important Whether your car window is actually protecting you from UV rays The fastest-growing area of the body where doctors are spotting skin cancer amongst women today How to negotiate the vitamin D vs sunscreen debate in real life Why you still need to reapply sunscreen every 2 hours, no matter how high the SPF factor is Her personal SPF layering technique – including how to reapply over makeup throughout the day

I truly enjoy this podcast and have learned so many things from product recommendations to background on brands that I love and use. Listening to Jill and Carlene is like meeting friends for coffee 😊

Huge fan!

I love love love this podcast! Jill and Carlene are incredibly knowledgeable on the beauty industry and give real advice and feedback on the best products to try. I love all the different types of episodes from the interviews with creators to the glow down episodes. I’ve purchased some of their top shelf products and have loved all of them. Many will now be constants in my beauty routine, including the bum bum cream and Tatcha’s silk liquid primer!

Supergoop sunscreen misinformation

By listening to the one of the recent Podcasts ( ep. 234) I realized that the main purpose of this one is promoting and advertising. After listening 3 times to the Supergoop founder episode I went ahead and purchased a few product thinking I finally found a product that I would use happily every day including my 1,3 and 11 year old children since Mrs. Thaggard claims that is very safe for children. Then I started digging in some medical studies and found out that there is no such a thing as clean chemical and that zinc used for children safe sunscreen is not made in lab but used in the lab to produce zinc mineral sunscreen for kids. Supergoop sunscreen though has exact same active components as other non zinc popular sunscreens with the only difference that Supergoop has half of the Homosalate ( 7% vs 15%) and exact same amount of Avobenzone, Octisalate and Octocrylene that when exposed to sunlight brake down and release free radicals that can potentially cause some kind of cancers other than skin cancer. For that exact reason those kind of sunscreens are banned in most of the European countries.
I’m conclusion I want to admit that indeed supergoop from esthetic point of view has extraordinary feel, unlike any sunscreen but in terms of health concerns is not any better than what we already have on the market for half of its price! Bb
