Aging, botox and body image with Dr. Colleen Reichmann

Aging, botox and body image with Dr. Colleen Reichmann

Dr. Colleen Reichmann joins us again this week for a very needed, very nuanced conversation around aging, self-care, botox and body image! We talk about how it’s normal to experience conflicted feelings about aging and ‘tweakments’ like botox, fillers, red light therapy, etc. We also discuss how insisting people should just love their bodies as they age and calling age a privilege doesn’t address the system that creates the fear of aging.

    Big Food and anti-diet influencers?

    Big Food and anti-diet influencers?

This week we have a nutrition in the news episode all about Big Food and anti-diet influencers & dietitians! A juicy article came up on Washington Post that we *needed* to dig into, titled: As obesity rises, Big Food and dietitians push ‘anti-diet’ advice – and you KNOW we were going to have some opinions on this one. We discuss how anti-diet language is being co-opted, but not in the way the article mentions. Big Food is also starting to cash in on the anti-diet “trend” and marketing to reach more people. Let’s discuss!

PS – I mentioned “the Examiner” as the other paper the Washington Post did this report with, it’s actually “the Examination”, which calls itself “a a new nonprofit newsroom specializing in global public health reporting.”

Cycle syncing and shark bait OOH HA HA

Cycle syncing and shark bait OOH HA HA

We’re bringing you another trending topic in the nutrition and wellness world this week – cycle syncing! This is a recently re-popularized trend where more functionally-minded circles are sharing how you can live, eat, exercise, etc. in line with the four phases of the menstrual cycle. And while it’s refreshing to see more information out there about understanding womens’ cycles, of course people had to take it to an extreme, orthorexic place and try to make buckets of money off of it. Stay tuned to learn more about your cycle, and how to approach cycle syncing in a non-perfectionistic way.

    Recommendations & Resources Mentioned:

    * Somatic Exercise: Helpful or Harmful? (bonus episode!)

Trying to destroy a non binary PIONEER in the fat acceptance movement to look cool. Riding a hate train is wrong too. Not into it.
