Vernon Williams is also director of ARTI, the Africana Repertory Theatre of Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and  a Communication and Community Strategist at IUPUI. Each year he and ARTI produces ONYXFEST, Indy's first and only theater festival dedicated to the stories of Black playwrights.
