British Airways' comms and sustainability challenges, plus Top & Flop Beyond the Noise - the PRWeek podcast

    • Business

On the day (Tuesday) when Britain hit record temperatures prompting frightening questions about the climate crisis, PRWeek interviewed British Airways' newly promoted director of sustainability, Carrie Harris on the latest edition of PRWeek's Beyond the Noise podcast.
Harris - who sits in BA's wider corporate affairs team, and was promoted to the new role last month - discusses the challenges of introducing sustainability policies at a huge airline, and the importance of comms as part of the process.
The topic of sustainability and the climate crisis were especially pertinent given this week's podcast was recorded on the hottest day on record in the UK, exceeding 40 degrees in Heathrow and elsewhere.
Harris told PRWeek: "Sustainability is now a strategic priority for BA. Climate change is here and now and it's absolutely fundamental to the future of aviation. And it's essential that we find a way to operate with all the wonders of air travel but without the environmental impact. And that's what we're trying to do.
PRWeek UK’s Beyond the Noise podcast, which is published on alternate weeks, looks at some of the biggest issues affecting comms and PR. Download the podcast via Apple, Spotify or your favourite platform, or listen in your browser.
Alongside regular host Frankie Oliver of New Society, PRWeek's editor-in-chief Danny Rogers and UK editor John Harrington also reveal which individuals or organisations have been chosen as 'Top' and 'Flop' of the past two weeks or so, from a reputation perspective.
