Scottish and Irish folk songs combined with the Lord of the Rings music and a wee bit o’Celtic fun. The Brobdingnagian Bards (pronounced brob-din-nahg-EE-en) were The Original Celtic Renaissance music duo from Austin, Texas. Their unique brand of folk music on the autoharp, recorder, and mandolin made them one of the most-popular Celtic music groups online where they continue to give away thousands of free Celtic MP3 downloads daily.
From 1999 to 2008, the Brobdingnagian Bards performed coast-to-coast, and in a given month could be found at a Lord of the Rings Oscar Party, a Celtic festival, or a Science Fiction Convention. However, they were an absolute favorite at Renaissance Faires where they added high-energy and wit to make every show a memorable experience.
Thanks in part to this podcast, their shows are never done!

Jedi Mickey, Bards with ChatGPT
Everyone is talking about AI with sites like ChatGPT, Midjourney, and DALL-E. What does the future hold?
We may be just musicians but we started CompuBards, a musical computer repair business, because Andrew knows a lot about computers and has a curious mind. Marc knows a lot about marketing and follows trends. We’re gonna share our take on artificial intelligence. Should you be excited or worried?
And of course, we’ll also break down our song “Jedi Mickey” and for patrons you’ll hear us talk about our performance of “The Orange and The Green”.

SONG LYRICS
Jedi Mickey by Marc Gunn and Andrew McKee
A long time ago, a tugboat faraway.
Mickey whistled out a tune while bouncing away
He turned color after one too many drinks
Then called up Lucas saying, “Haha! Dude... your writing stinks!”
When Mickey sobered up, he called the board to plan,
"I've had a vision, a lightsaber in my hand
We'll make Star Wars as we wish upon a star
And will do it far better with a story by Pixar. Haha!"
[to the tune When you Wish upon a Star]
When the mouse wants your franchise
He'll start off licensing for rides.
If you're tired and you need some cash
He'll buy from you......
One part mouse and one part duck
One part Jedi and formulaic luck
A Wookie on my right and a Goofy one on my left
Merging these two companies... is the big test
There's a star destroyer shaped like a mushroom house
The Beagle boys stand before a Sith Lord mouse
While far away a Jedi Mouse stares into space
The three moons of Tatooine replaced... by Mickey's face
Mickey meets Minnie. The force is strong with her.
He lays a kiss on her, and the fans all hurl
Minnie is his sister and that folks is a shame
Our love for those mice will never... be the same
Mickey stabs the Sith. The dark mouse disappears
Wherever there's one Sith Lord, another will appear
A duck steps forward with a cloak as black as ink
With Jedi mice and ducks, I'll need... a stronger drink.

SONG LYRICS Do Virgins Taste Better words by Randy Farran, music Traditional
A dragon has come to our village today.
We've asked him to leave, but he won't go away.
Now he's talked to our king and they worked out a deal.
No homes will he burn and no crops will he steal.
Now there is but one catch, we dislike it a bunch.
Twice a year he invites him a virgin to lunch.
Well, we've no other choice, so the deal we'll respect.
But we can't help but wonder and pause to reflect.
* Do virgins taste better than those who are not?
Are they salty, or sweeter, more juicy or what?
Do you savor them slowly? Gulp them down on the spot?
Do virgins taste better than those who are not?
Now we'd like to be shed you, and many have tried.
But no one can get through your thick scaly hide.
We hope that some day, some brave knight will come by.
'Cause we can't wait around 'til you're too fat to fly.
Now you have such good taste in your women for sure,
They always are pretty, they always are pure.
But your notion of dining, it makes us all flinch,
For your favorite entree is barbecued wench.
Now we've found a solution, it works out so neat,
If you insist on nothing but virgins to eat.
No more will our number ever grow small,
We'll simply make sure there's no virgins at all!
The Dragon's Retort words by Claire Stephens, music traditional
Now, I am a dragon. Please listen to me.
For I'm misunderstood to a dreadful degree.
This ecology needs my and I know my place.
But I'm fighting extinction with all of my race.
Well, I came to this village to better my health
Which is ever so poor, despite all my wealth.
But I get no assistance and no sympathy,
Just impertinent questioning shouted at me.
* Yes, virgins taste better than those who are not.
But my favorite snack mixed with peril is fraught.
For my teeth will decay and my trim go to pot.
Yes, virgins taste better than those who are not.
Well, I'm really quite kind almost all through the year.
Vegetarian ways are now mine out of fear.
But a birthday needs sweets as I'm sure you'll agree.
And barbecued wench tastes like candy to me
As it happens our interests are almost the same.
You see I'm really quite skillful at managing game.
If I ate just your men, would your excess decline?
Of course not, the rest would just m -

SONG LYRICS
Christmas Time in Texas
by Marc Gunn & Andrew McKee
There's no white Christmas day
less you drive a white Chevrolet
You won't hear sleigh bells ringing
less the Salvation Army is Santa-ing
In your...Christmas time in Texas.
And if you feel the holiday blues,
Go outside with no shoes
And when Santa Claus arrives,
He’ll be wearing SPF 45
In your...Christmas time in Texas.
O The sun is shining bright.
Don't expect snowflakes tonight.
And if you hear Kris Kringle outside
His sleigh won't get stuck,
He's flying in style In his monster truck
During Christmas time in Texas.
So don't bother with Christmas lights.
Buy your cold winter clothing half-price.
Then the presents beneath your tree,
Will all smell just like mesquite.
In your... Christmas time in Texas.
O The sun is shining bright.
Don't expect snowflakes tonight.
Santa, won’t come down your chimney
That’s not what their for,
In Texas we're friendly. He'll use the front door.
During Christmas time in Texas.
Christmas morning, you will hope
In your stocking, there's a new rope
Forget eggnog. Drink lite beer
As you wrastle your new steer
In your...Christmas time in Texas.
O The sun is shining bright.
Don't expect snowflakes tonight.
And if you hear in your chimney,
A man that is stuck.
Load up your shotgun. This stranger is Fu… in trouble.
During Christmas time in Texas. -

Ben awhile but Dang! Worth it.
Saw the Bards in Killeen years ago. Saw them again at Sherwood(cool place). Worth seeing a whole lot more.
A Brobdinagian Review
Just wanted to say that I loved the podcast, I am now going back and listening to all of the old one for the first time. Marc and Andrew play off well off each other.
Marc is the quintisential Auto-Harper who does a great job harping about hiself. while Andrew is a man who needs no introduction.........or at least there is none that is fitting of him
If you like topics from sci-fi to medival you will like this one, it is a plethora of geekiness. I listen to the podcast when I need a good laugh at work
I am hoping to see them perform on day, and look forward to hearinfg the next episode.
Thank you!!!
I am so glad to see that you guys are back with new programs. I love your podcasts. Great songs and fun to listen shows.
Sincerely.
