Buckeye Talk Legacy Pod: Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud
Buckeye Talk unveils a new podcast form with this first episode in what is hoped to be a series of Buckeye Talk Legacy pods looking back on the careers of recent Ohio State stars.
First up is quarterback C.J. Stroud, as Doug Lesmerises, Nathan Baird and Stephen Means talk through Stroud's arrival in Columbus and his three years in the program and two years as a starter.
To help tell that story are clips from two Stroud interviews, one from February 2020 when he was an early enrollee freshman looking forward to his OSU career, and another from November 2022 when he was looking back and knowing that he was nearing the end of his OSU career.
Along the way, Doug, Nathan and Stephen discuss these aspects of Stroud's career:
How he got here
Year 1 as a Buckeye
Low Point
High Point
Turning Point
What if he hadn't been a Buckeye
Describe him in one word
Did he exceed, meet or not quite reach expectations?
Where he fits in Ohio State history
We hope you enjoy our first Buckeye Talk Legacy attempt. Thanks as always for listening.

Must Hear Bucks Podcast
Excellent content.
Please fix Stephen’s voice recording. His commentary is worth hearing but the sound recording (muffled and wavy) actually hurts — gives me a headache. Sound editor? Microphone?
Good Show
One of the better OSU pods
Just whiny, crying personality talk
I have written a lot of criticism of how this podcast has collapsed since Bill and Ari left. None of the people on this podcast know anything about actual football, like Bill did. So now it is just personality discussion and I don’t know, tell OSU fans how to be fans and feelings. I don’t know what this podcast is now. I do know that the two cows don’t have the football knowledge to provide insight and Doug just lets his narcissism and neurosis just run wild. I call Nate and Steve cows because Doug pushes them around. Nate should leave, Doug rarely let’s him talk. I don’t know why the cows yield to Doug. What authority does he have aside from whining in Columbus for years? At least he isn’t a racist as he used to be? They plug their other work and discuss food. But fundamentally they discuss food because they don’t understand the OSU football team, they don’t understand the fans, and they don’t understand football. Someone here said “they aren’t fan boys”. I disagree. They are huge fans of Day and Stroud, and won’t criticize them at all. No matter how many loses to Michigan. Maybe it’s to maintain relationships with those people but it’s boring. After two loses to UM they discuss, how fans should react. That’s ridiculous. I think Buckeye Talk has run it’s course. OSU Football has to change and so does this podcast. Listen I was a text subscriber. It’s a rip off. They use it as means to churn content. That’s all. I think there are a lot better podcasts. Zach Smith has a very good podcast on Menace 2 Sports. He actually speaks with a coach’s insight. 11 Warriors are good. Joel Klatt is very good. Cover III is awesome. College Football Nerds are very informative. And Tim May is good. Look the point is that there are much better analysis and discussion out there. We all love what Buckeye Talk was. This isn’t it. This is personality talk. Move on. PS: USC loses and Doug’s whining about why perfection from paid players and Utah!!! Doug is trash.
