Today’s quote comes from my all-time favorite author. From the many adventures he took me on as a child to challenging me as an adult to be strong and authentic in my faith, the writings of C.S. Lewis have had a major impact on my life. In this quote, he reminds us that we are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream. Another one of my heroes, Stan Lee, didn’t have his first major success until just shy of 40. Samuel L. Jackson was 46 when he got his first major role. Colonel Sanders was in his 60s when he started his first KFC restaurant. I could go on but regardless of how old you are, keep dreaming, keep doing and keep living.

Something you will constantly hear me repeat over and over is that you were placed on this planet for a reason, with a purpose and a passion to follow it through. It isn’t about making money. It isn’t about fancy cars or big houses or a bunch of stuff. Now, I’m not saying that you need to live like Mother Teresa, giving up all comforts and luxuries. It’s okay to want nice things and it’s okay to work hard for them. But what this journey is really about is serving others, becoming a better person and adding value to this planet. Leaving this rock a slightly better place than when we arrived. Life your life with purpose and ON purpose and the rest will follow.

Have you ever felt like you were on top of the world? Only to find yourself falling harder than you ever have before shortly after? Well, you’re not alone. Life has humbled me on more than one occasion. What matters most in those moments is the courage to keep going when you fall. Pride can often make this difficult but forget pride. Failure is not fatal, even though sometimes you might feel like crawling under a rock and staying there. Get up, put one foot in front of the other and keep moving.

I still remember vividly what it felt like to park my company car for the last time. But as I turned the keys in the ignition, I knew there was no turning back. I had a job that I enjoyed with a company that I loved. My salary paid the bills and on top of that, I could earn as much commission as I hustled or had time for. Looking back I’d like to think that it was a brave move but the freaking truth is that it was both stupid and irresponsible. There I was, a single parent with 4 kids at home.
