Real talk for Educators... Breaking Habits of Schooling in Favor of Education!

As a teacher and now a critical teacher educator there’s just not a lot of stuff out there that is focused on our work. Sure, there are small spots or special episodes on education in other podcasts but Busted Pencils is front line real talk from educators for educators. The show covers current conversations in Education. It’s not over produced, yet it’s got a great flow to it and hosts listen. So many podcasts are rants or scripted bits from characters; however, Busted Pencils avoid the rant format and provides solid information, updates, and dialogue that I find timely and interesting. It’s fair to say that I have zero patience for commentary on education that isn’t coming from a place of genuine interest, expertise, and a passionate belief that the world can do better. The folkx at Busted Pencils put out episodes on topics and issues in education that spotlight students, teachers, professors, artists, and musicians in ways that shares their diverse experiences and connects their guests to an ongoing invitation for listeners to contribute to a larger dialogue about breaking the habits of schooling in favor of reimagining education.

Breaking Pencils has become a regular listen for me because I’m always learning from the episodes and it’s become part of my commute to teach and added value it’s sparked questions, dreams, and projects in my classroom. If you can’t tell I’m saying that if you are an educator and/or you care a ton about our craft and the bigger issues often influencing our day to day, then give Busted Pencils a listen and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
