Buying Organic: What You Need To Know Healthy Family Project

Check out the full Episode 68 show notes on our website!
This episode of the Healthy Family Project podcast is all all about how to shop for organic foods. We're joined by Sally Kuzemchak, our official registered dietitian and author of RealMomNutrition.com. Sally dispels the myths and breaks down everything you need to know about buying organic.

You can't walk into a grocery store without seeing all sorts of labels making bold health claims including organic labels on fresh and packaged foods. There is a lot of confusion among shoppers around what the organic label means, does organic equal healthy, and what nutrition information should actually be taken into account when making food purchases.

As Sally notes "organic cookies are still cookies" and shoppers should not be duped into thinking organic always means the food item is healthy. Sally breaks down the meaning of organic when it comes to food labels, what we should know about the dirty dozen list, and what food items to prioritize when it comes to deciding between conventional and organic.
