Psalms 18:6 says, "In my distress, I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears."
King David wrote this powerful Psalm to glorify God. He was giving thanks and pouring out his heart to the Lord for answering his prayers when he was in distress. King David was a man after God’s Own Heart and he loved the Lord very much. As a little boy, he learns how to call and depend on God no matter what. King David had an attitude of gratitude. I can imagine him saying, "If it had not been for the Lord who was on my side, the enemy would’ve swallow me up. No matter what type of darkness we may be facing in this world, rest because God has the power to deliver us.
Romans 10:13 says, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
1Chronicles 16:8 says, "Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people."
Psalm 105:1 says, "Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples."
