"Is it Okay to do Easter Egg Hunts for our Kids?" (Special Podcast Highlight)

"Is it Okay to do Easter Egg Hunts for our Kids?" (Special Podcast Highlight)

Have you ever wondered if letting your little ones loose in the garden, searching for those brightly colored Easter eggs might just be leading them a tad away from the monumental meaning of Easter? Well, you're not alone in this Easter egg conundrum! Amy from Oceanside, California, brought this "egg-ceptionally" good question to the Patrick Madrid Show.

Patrick shared some golden yolks of wisdom. He reassured Amy (and all of us listening in) that as long as our kiddos are grounded in the true essence of Easter – that is, celebrating Jesus Christ's resurrection and His divine love for us – then adding a sprinkle of secular fun like Easter egg hunts is totally fine! 🕊️

Think of it as a chocolate-covered marshmallow peep: sweet on the outside but with a core that holds the real treasure.  Patrick paralleled this with Christmas celebrations, noting that it's completely okay to enjoy the festive trimmings as long as the heart of the celebration remains focused on Jesus's birth and His ultimate gift of love and salvation to us.

So, go ahead and hide those eggs in the most challenging nooks and crannies of your garden, because it's all in good faith (literally!). And remember, as long as Jesus remains the reason for the season in your family's heart, you're on the right track to a faith-filled, fun-filled Easter celebration!

Busting Myths: The Easter-Pagan Connection? (Special Podcast Highlight)

Busting Myths: The Easter-Pagan Connection? (Special Podcast Highlight)

Ah, the age-old tale of Easter's supposed pagan roots! 🐣🌷 Let's dive into a spirited conversation from The Patrick Madrid Show, where Linda seeks wisdom. She's been thrown the curveball question:

Is Easter just a rebranded pagan holiday?

First off, Patrick Madrid lays down the calendar facts: Easter in the Western Church is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. 🌕✨ This method of dating Easter might seem like it's borrowed from a pagan calendar at first glance, but oh, it's so much more!

Patrick explains the Quartodecimanism controversy... about when Easter should be celebrated. This has led to the Eastern and Western Churches celebrating Easter at different times. But does this discrepancy hint at pagan roots? Patrick says, "No way, José!"

Why? Because this calendar conundrum is tied not to pagan rituals but to the lunar calendar, which our Jewish friends used for plotting feast days. And guess what? The Jews were definitely not hosting pagan parties. 🚫🌺

Patrick suggests arming yourself against the "Easter is pagan" argument with two epic resources:

    1. Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating - a book so powerful, it's like watching a bowling alley strike. Argument after argument, Keating knocks them down.

    2. Articles by Jon Sorenson - your go-to for refuting what Patrick charmingly calls "silly arguments."

Join Patrick as he dissects these statistics, examines potential reasons for this decline, and discusses the significance of prioritizing regular Mass attendance.

Juan - I heard you were not supposed to eat meat during the entire Triduum, but now days it seems like people only refrain from meat on Fridays. Did that change? (01:30)
Is it wrong to have a devotion to the Rosary?
Cody - Is it smart for a Catholic to reach out to Protestants by attending their services? (08:10)
Elida - If you bless rosaries with a relic of a saint, do you also need a priest to bless it? (18:01)
Madeline - Why can't you baptize babies while they are in the womb? (20:12)
The Hope of Salvation for Infants Who Die Without Baptism
Michael - What type of indulgences are available this week and what is the history behind them? (29:37)

Grateful for Patrick Madrid and Relevant Radio

I had been urged by a friend and my sister to listen to Relevant Radio for quite some time and I started listening around 3 years ago and haven’t stopped. I especially like Patrick’s show because I have learned more about Catholicism that I never knew in all my 70 years! Oh if I knew all these things before I might be a saint! Thank you for all that you do to educate us.
