Candid Conversations on the Treatment of DID with Mental Health Clinicians Kelly Caligia & Aimee Ford Braving the Way with Dr. Fletch

    • Mental Health

It's the 4th episode of season 2 on Braving the Way and today, we are breaking open the conversation about DID, mental health, and mental health practitioners. In this episode, I am joined by these two amazing women: Kelly Caniglia, who is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor  in NC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of FL, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional based out of Chapel Hill, NC; and Aimee Ford who is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, an EMDR trained clinician, and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional based in Southern California. Learn more in their bios below!

Nothing is off limits as we cover a wide range of topics, including the continued stigma of those living with DID, the lack of resources and information for those training as mental health practitioners, and the experiences the 3 of us have had in the mental health field, working with clients who have DID. We don't hold back and in an authentic and raw dialogue, we express our frustration and disappointment, but also our hope for the future and the humanness that can be provided to all those living with DID. Not one to miss, so tune in.

Kelly Caniglia: Kelly specializes in working with trauma, PTSD, and CPTSD, with a focus on Dissociative Disorders and DID. Kelly takes great pride in serving on the board of An Infinite Mind, a national organization focused on education and advocating for individuals living with DID. Kelly joined An Infinite Mind as their first intern in 2012, and moved up through the years.  Kelly has served on the board for 10 years, and is currently their Director of Events and Conferences.  Kelly has an intense passion for educating and advocating for those living with DID, and hopes to continue to help train and cultivate other Clinicians in this part of the mental health field.  In her spare time, Kelly enjoys going on outdoor adventures with her dog and her partner. She is also a painter, photographer and artist. She avidly enjoys theater and being onstage as well as behind the scenes, and focuses on soaking in all of life’s experiences.
