    Retailers Responding to Customer Absense
Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one-minute investment every day for a lifetime of results
I do, because if you read the articles, they'll say, well, we're responding to customer demand. Well, customers are always going to demand lower prices. They're always going to want that.
But what they're responding to is customer absence. The foot traffic is down in retail stores. They need a reason to get them back.
And Memorial Day is a traditional promotional holiday weekend for retailers anyway. So again, it's good timing. It's a good message.
And what they're trying to do, it's a smart business move because they've lowered the price on the consumables.  The everyday items that people are likely to come back and buy on a regular basis. Just like you mentioned, you like to go to Target on a regular basis.
These are the sorts of products that will get you coming back over and over again for repeat purchases.  You'll note they didn't lower the price of ice cream. That's still going to be more money.
So they're not trying to bring you back in for ice cream, but for grocery items, for everyday consumables, paper products, they want you back.

If it Does Not Work For You its Time to Move On
Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one-minute investment every day for a lifetime of results. Most states are, and there are a few that are not, but most states are at will, which means I can fire you without cause as long as it doesn't violate public policy or an otherwise established state law.
Most states have that, right? This means I don't need ten reasons to let you go, just like you don't need ten reasons to leave. You know, but now, on a practical level, you want a partnership between the employee and the employer. You know, that's the best relationship where you can talk through your differences and you tell me what you're looking for, I'll tell you what I'm looking for, and we make some form of accommodation.
But this is a little much. Unless your employer is violating an employment agreement, which if it is, I respect you going to the National Labor Relations Board, but if it's not, then look, if it doesn't work for you, it's time to move on.

Carl-Gould-#70secondCEO-The Hybrid Workplace or 4 Day Work Week

Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one-minute investment every day for a lifetime of results. I would say it's all of the above just because of the sheer volume, but where most people are landing is with the hybrid work environment.
Three days in the office, two to three days in the office, and two days outside the office. The other thing we're seeing is companies going to four-day work weeks, four 10-hour days as opposed to five eight-hour days. That way you have a long weekend every weekend.
And so Mondays and Fridays, generally speaking, whichever model you choose, Mondays and Fridays are becoming the flex day. And most of the in-office collaboration, team meetings, those are happening Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and people are allowed to work remotely Monday and FridaySo that's what we're seeing mostly.
And I think the hybrid model is a good compromise.  It allows you a lot of flexibility, still keep your side hustle, and you have to live reasonably close to where you work.  Like and follow this podcast so you can learn more. My name is Carl Gould, and this has been your #70secondCEO.

Carl-Gould-#70secondCEO-Looking for Company Flexibility or Time to Work Your Side Hustle

Carl-Gould-#70secondCEO-Looking for Company Flexibility or Time to Work Your Side Hustle

Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one-minute investment every day for a lifetime of results. The term flexible and how we achieve flexibility has changed over the years.
So flexibility has always been among the top of the list of employees as to what they've wanted. And it used to be, I want to be flexible so I can go to my kids' events and I want to be there for my family  and I want to be able to handle my life responsibilities. Since the pandemic started, over 2 million people have added doing project work remotely to their side hustle,  their business, they are now gig workers.
So they want the company to be flexible not because they can meet their life responsibilities, it's because they have a second job, they don't want to give up.  And they want to be able to do their side hustle from home and it was easier for them to do their job work and then go to their side hustle work and back to their job work. And since they were on their own computer, nobody could really track it and nobody had the right to.
But if you're in the office, you're not going to be doing your side hustle. And that's a big reason why people want to maintain the flexibility because they want to be able to do their side hustle.

Carl-Gould-#70secondCEO-Working Remote or Working in The Office - Both Come with Challenges

Working Remote or Working in The Office - Both Come with Challenges
Hi, everyone. Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one-minute investment every day for a lifetime of results.
Policies are good for everybody except for the person with the open door, because they get interrupted. So you have to have boundaries, whether it's a work environment or a home environment. Either way, what happens, though, is it's more mindset.
When you're home, you have the laundry, you have the cleaning lady coming over,  you have the dog that's climbing on your keyboard screen. There are certain things that you have at home that you just don't have at work, and vice versa.  What people will argue is they'll say, well, I don't have the commute.
I don't have all the time getting dressed. I don't have the train ride or the bus ride or the drive. So there are conveniences to being home.
Well, what you miss out on is all of the collaboration, right?  So if everybody's remote and they're in all parts of the country, but the company needs the team to come together and collaborate on something, come up with something new, review where we've been as a company, they don't have that luxury, and you lose out on the brainstorming. We do a lot of these meetings with our clients,  and the difference between people Zooming in to a collaboration meeting versus being in the same room with each other is night and day. It's not even close.

Carl-Gould-#70secondCEO-The Productivity is Better When Working in The Office

The Productivity is Better When Working in The Office

Hi everyone, Carl Gould here with your #70secondCEO. Just a little over a one minute investment every day for a lifetime of results.
There's no doubt having your team in the office is a better way to build a company.
Before the pandemic, nobody was sending all of their employees home and saying, hey, everybody works from home.  That's a better way for us to build a company and be more productive.  It's just not reality.
And I'm like you, I like to go to an office and I like to put my work clothes on, go to work. And I'm in that kind of mode.  I'm in that thinking mode.
I'm in that action mode. And you know, just like we say, when you're done with work, switch off and go home. It's the same thing when you leave the house, you switch off home and you go to work.
And so you could focus and you can spend your time, you know, giving the attention to the work that you're supposed to be doing. So productivity is a lot better. And the collaboration and the morale and the culture is a lot better when you have people working around each other.
