Taking Down Tesla w/ Valerie from the Troublemakers (G&R 366)

Elon Musk is a dangerous oligarch running a hostile corporate takeover operation on the federal government via the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In response, people around the world have mobilized to hurt him where it hurts… his pocketbook. In recent weeks, one of his companies, Tesla, had lost 25% in market share and been the target of widespread protests. In our latest, Scott talks with Valerie with the Troublemakers in Seattle about the viral protests against Elon and Tesla. ——— Outro- "Trouble” by Christopher John Stephens Links// + Takedown Tesla: teslatakedown.com + Troublemakers Community: www.troublemakerscommunity.org Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/vgKnY3sd) +Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social) Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. Trump's Favorite President? Who Was William McKinley? Tariffs, Empire, and a new Gilded Age (G&R 365)

The favorite son of Niles, Ohio is our topic today . . . Donald Trump has said that William McKinley was his favorite president so we spend some time explaining who McKinley was, why he became president, what he did, and what Trump's declared affection means....McKinley came to power in the post-Civil War era when industrial capitalism became the national economic system and, living in Ohio, became an advocate of tariffs and "free labor." As such he authored the McKinley Tariff in 1890, which badly harmed the American economy. McKinley also ushered in America's move into foreign areas to create a new empire--especially in Cuba and the Philippines. And of course we discuss the reasons that Trump may idolize McKinley, and also how Trump's economic program is a departure from the neo-Liberal regime and a movement back toward the protectionist and imperial ways of William McKinley. ---------------------------------Outro- "White House Blues" by Charlie Norton and the North Carolina RamblersFollow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/vgKnY3sd)+Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social)Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. Radical Publishing in the Age of Trump, War and Climate Crisis w/ Liz Frances of Street Noise Books (G&R 364)

In our latest, Scott talks with Liz Francis, founder and publisher of Street Noise Books (@streetnoisebook) about publishing radical and progressive comics and graphic novels in the age of Trump, war in Gaza and the climate crisis. They discuss the mission of Street Noise Books, and some of its publications including "Eyes on Gaza," "Milk without Honey" and "Toxic Tropics." This episode is another in our Arts and Culture series that highlights film, books and music that raises political consciousness. Graphic novels and comics are some of the best selling publications in the publishing sector. Much of the audience for graphic novels are young adults and raising their political and social consciousness through graphic novels is important for radical political education. Street Noise has a progressive social justice mission with publications on Gaza, the climate crisis, immigration, mental health, LGBQT, gender issues and much more.Bio//Liz Frances is the founder and publisher of Street Noise Books. Having worked as an art director and book designer in the big publishing houses of New York City, Frances enjoyed collaborating with many gifted writers, illustrators, graphic artists and editors and saw a need for a different kind of publisher to serve the graphic novel and graphic memoir form. -----------------------------------------------Outro- "Green and Red Blues" by MoodyLinks//+ Street Noise Books:https://www.streetnoisebooks.com/Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/vgKnY3sd)+Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social)Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production.
