First part good, second part too scripted

I finished the first part and loved it but once the second part started and they started telling the stories of the different hits, I couldn’t STAND the scripted conversation between Carl and the female. Just don’t pretend to have a conversation. Either have a real one or just have one person narrate.

Fascinating story undermined by weak, self-centered story telling and a horrifying display of ignorance and incompetence. I don’t like writing negative reviews but given the stakes, it really is alarming. I hope this podcaster finds things that are actually within his capabilities to cover. Update: the interview of James Patterson really underscores the narcissistic sensationalism of this podcast. I haven’t been able to bring myself to listen to the previous two episodes and I think this is the final straw. Do not bother starting this podcast, there are much better reporters out there and this is an unfortunate exception to the usual quality of Wondery’s shows

Hello, This has been a very interesting and informative podcast, but I was troubled with some of the terminology and descriptions used in the Berlin episode to describe his occult-like practices. As a practitioner of witchcraft who is a person of color, it has been hard to listen to the use of the words “black magic” which has some implicit racial bias, and use of the term Voodoo which is a religious practice more so than a craft-vs. Hoodoo- used to describe a play dough doll and witchcraft (which is more than what you haven’t described) feels wrong, well more so incorrect. Use of such language continues to perpetuate a meaning that is laden with racial bias and discrimination and has implications for people like me. I think in the future, it would be good to share your script with a sensitivity reader who is versed in such practices and is of person of color so you share something that is more accurate and respectful. Otherwise thank you again for all that you do! What you do is important! Thanks again!
