Leviticus 23:1-44

It was 1980 when the band Kool and the Gang burst on the scene inviting any and all to get together and ‘celebrate good times.’ But, long before this song extended its celebration invitation, we discover in Leviticus 23 that a similar invitation was first given by the LORD God to His redeemed people. In this chapter, God commands Israel to set aside key days on their calendar in order to celebrate who God is and what He has done. The aim was so God’s people would be consistently reminded that Yahweh is the Lord of time, and as such, He compels His people to build all of life around Him and direct all of life to Him for truly our time is in His hands. Main Idea—As the sovereign Lord of time, Yahweh calls us to order our days around Him for our joy.
