Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Brian has invented a time machine and tells all about how it works in an exciting twist of fate and it doesn't get any cleverer as it progresses to Brian practicing his rolling Rs. Meanwhile in England, Richard has received a special package and gives us a live review before telling us a Twitter fuelled anecdote.

Blake has been talking to Robert Keeley and he and Brian discuss the podcast they made together. He has also been thinking about guitars with extra strings like the giant spider brained genius he is and tells us of his new GAS situation. Meanwhile, Brian is dreaming of Baritone telecasters, and Richard asks dumb questions (again) before broaching the delicate subject of strap locks with Brian.

What's the most you would pay for a Boss DS-1?  Kurt Cobain's DS-1 sold for a shockingly high amount of money and the guys ponder about this very question while Richard hatches a cunning plan to taunt Brian with natural pests.  Then we turn to the greatest flatulence based pedal that Brian never released and the guys come up with a few improvements.

Sweetened wood, Gene Simmons root beer, Extra risk butter, BTO, Phone Mojo, Mononeon...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

435 - Brian plays the Bluebird

435 - Brian plays the Bluebird

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Blake is making content in a hotel room,  and it has come to pass that Brian is now indeed a Country and Western megastar. He may deny it but he has played at the legendary Bluebird cafe in Nashville, TN and the guys cannot fail to be impressed. Some heavy names were dropped, and some food talk also occurred. It was also livestreamed on Onlyfans of Electronics, no wait, the Wampler Metaverse, no wait, I forget...Anyhow, Bri gives us a great breakdown of his gig and a little bit of history as he tells us about the amazing acts that graced the stage before him.

Eventide have brought out a rather special effects processor, the H90, and the guys cast their opinions over it and its predecessor, the mighty H9.  The guys have also been checking out the new Morley analogue flyrig board and thats definitely turned a few heads. But not Ranger Brian's. Richard has also been on the Fret Talk pedalboard so tells us a bit about that and why he love analog knobs. Spray yourself immediately!

Brian has bought a new guitar and he tells us all about it despite the faux protestations from the crew - and it may surprise you. Well at least 50% of it will. It turns out the guys all have the same piece of gear and they all love it and talk about it in glowing terms.  There is almost total agreement here, its a bit disturbing.

Peanut butter cheesecake, Pitchshifting mistakes, Forehead presence, The Shaggs Mk2, Free market research, You are a cheap no name wall wart...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

434 - Is this just an LPB1 clone?

434 - Is this just an LPB1 clone?

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Brian makes an unexpected confession as we open up this weeks episode but makes up for it with some brilliant falsetto singing before making various biscuity accusations. This leads on to a conversation about fine beverages and cultural differences.

Soldano just released a new pedal and the guys talk about it - Richard is a big fan and he talks to Brian about it and gets a lesson about the origins of the original Wampler  SLOstortion pedal. Brian also gives out some exclusive pedal modding tips and then mentally redesigns a bunch of Apple products while Blake dreams of refrigeration.

The guys were pleasantly surprised by a mysterious listener email and it leads down a weird and wonderful whimsical journey under the sea. Meanwhile, Brian reads a book and Richard has ordered a new pedal and is very excited about its ability to slice and dice.

Biscuit and Gravy talk, Octember, Shoewater, Cracker Barrel, Racist Chicken, Men in Black...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

    433 - Behold the Fuzzstortion!

    433 - Behold the Fuzzstortion!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Its a perplexing start this week as the guys are all completely confused by everything happening in the world today, particularly politics! Brian fantasises about calling a pedal the Brian Drive after reading the interview Paul Reed Smith gave in a guitar magazine recently. This leads into a funny yet illuminating discussion about pedal names before a technical discrepancy makes Brian's head implode.

Richard has a terrible idea for a guitar brand, and avoids a spraying (narrowly) but he shares a little trick he learnt to get natural reverb in a recording studio which gives Brian an idea. There was a video involving Steve Lukather and a pedalboard failure mid song and the guys break down what happened with admiration, before offering their own power supply advice.

Brian also has a minor rant about some pedals that he is a little freaked out by which leads into conversation about the Moxie and how it can be made to sound like another famous pedal. Brian has also discovered a new form of robot tuner - or is it-  and the guys talk about this always controversial issue and their own tuner preferences.

Wayne Bradderson, Its weird but not very aesthetically pleasing, Lord Spinal Tap, It cant get worse, Commander Nacho 420, Benny Hill...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

432 - The Joy of Strings

432 - The Joy of Strings

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back with a surprise guest for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

Blake has been summonsed to Nashville to put his mighty brawn to use in the art of boutique guitar string winding and has bought along a very special guest to the show, Scott Marquart - the owner of Stringjoy strings! It is fair to say that Scott is one of the world's foremost experts in guitar strings, so the guys take the opportunity to take a deep dive into the world of winding metal.

Scott's origin story is fascinating. He tells us how he went from all round gear nerd early on to international string magnate in an amusing and insightful tale. Then he met Blake and beautiful chainsaw doom inspired music was made. Scott gives us some unique 'stringsights' and Blake salivates over the prospect of an 8-string guitar while Brian finds an angle.

Richard made another terrible mistake in his youth which he details and Brian has pressed the wrong button once again. Meanwhile, Blake's head explodes as he channels his inner conspiracy theoriser before Richard expands upon his new theory of American town names which is borderline, no, actually just very stupid. Scott then makes us all look even more stupider by telling us about the all new coated strings from Stringjoy and the technologies involved, before giving us a fantastic mini history of string manufacturers.

Thick chugs, Max Djent, Stringr, -1 British Prime Minister, Big Nickel, Quadcore strings...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

431 - Chris Shiflett (of Foo Fighters fame) talks gear!

431 - Chris Shiflett (of Foo Fighters fame) talks gear!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are joined by a special guest this week,  Chris Shiflett of the Foo Fighters, for an all-new episode of the Chasing Tone Podcast!

We have an extra special guest this week and Brian may or may not fanboy a little bit. It is of course Chris Shiflett who is a monster player with a huge back catalogue of work - including playing in one of Brian's favorite bands, the Foo Fighters. Chris has some very cool new music coming out and also has his own podcast, Walking The Floor, and we talk about some of his escapades including a rare first hand peek into international tour bus life.

Chris is a super nice dude, and his stories are absolutely fascinating. The guys talk about how Blake first discovered his music. They also go deep into Chris' love of classic rock and roll, and country music, and the influences that drove him to explore country based rock further. The guys then go right back to Chris' roots and his teenage years and find out all about his earliest tastes and influences and his signature Fender guitar. Conversation turns to his different rigs and then pedals...Brian may have found his new happy place amongst all this Foo tinged pedal talk.

Chris has an idea for a custom delay pedal, and gives the guys an entertaining demonstration, and it just so happens Brian knows a guy. As well as being a fantastic player and all round legend, Chris loves football, sorry "soccer", and Richard and he share a love for the same football team so speak in what Blake and Brian can only describe as a completely foreign language. Brian's head spins, and he has fallen in love with one of Chris' solo songs "Born & Raised" so plays a little clip which instantly wins Blake over too. Right at the end Chris gives us some absolute golden insights into his songwriting process which is worth the admission fee itself.

This is a special episode and the team hope you enjoy it and would like to say a huge thanks to Chris for coming on - go check out his new music!

There may be a swear or two in this but heck - that's rock and roll baby!

Van Life, Thierry Henry, The Stone Roses, Glaser mods, Panning Tremelo, Custom Chris Shiflett Delay pedal, Mopey minor keys...it's all in this week's Chasing Tone!

Check out Chris Shiflett's music here and his Podcast Here and look for him on TikTok, kids!

This podcast has slowly grown on me like a fungible infection.
They remind me of having friends.
Sometimes they talk about guitars, which is even better.
