Sermons from Chatham Bible Church in Hazelwood, Missouri.
Simple Prayer (Matthew 6:7-8)
True prayer happens in response to God's revelation of who he really is. Unlike pagans who try to manipulate God through prayer, we are to approach him as our Father who has proven his love for us on the cross of Christ.
Secret Prayer (Matthew 6:5-6)
True prayer happens in secret, in the heart, when we meet God as our Father and commune with him. All our true prayers are secured by the secret prayer of Jesus on the cross.
Kingdom Generosity (Matthew 6:1-4)
In the kingdom of God, we are called to sincere, organic, from-the-heart generosity. It is only possible if we believe the gospel of Jesus who gave up his wealth to make us poor sinners unimaginably rich.
Enemies of the Kingdom (Matthew 5:38-48)
In the kingdom of God, we are called to give up our rights and love our enemies. Our God is an enemy loving God and our King's rules from the cross.
Kingdom Integrity (Matthew 5:33-37)
In the kingdom of God, swearing an oath to cover up a lie is unacceptable. As kingdom citizens, we are called to lives of integrity which is only possible as we follow Jesus, the man of integrity.
Kingdom Faithfulness (Matthew 5:27-32)
In the kingdom of God, marriage is to be protected from adultery and divorce. The King’s faithfulness can empower us to remain faithful and resist lust.
